Car Wreck 3/25/09
Recently got into a wreck in March. I was passing an intersection, next thing you know, *BOOM*, I got hit on the rear driver side, car spins twice, I end up facing oncoming traffic, my left ear is ringing, I noticed the air bags deployed and the fact that if they didn't my face would have smashed into the window. My passenger and I are okay, just were sore from the wreck. It felt like someone checked me across the left abdominal area up to my shoulder with a lacrosse stick. The guy who hit me ran a red light, he thought it was green because the car on his right hand side kept going to make a right turn. The driver of the other vehicle was a good friend from school which sucks. Everythings okay as of now, the cars in the autoshop getting fixed by matrix autobody, the damage thus far has racked up to 8-9k in damage and counting. If all goes well I should see my car again on Saturday. Here are some pictures...

As Paul and other members have stated before, our tC's are very safe.
LASLY, if you ever get in a wreck or need to tow your car, avoid XTREM TOWING COMPANY. I paid 154 dollars for him to drive up 2-3 blocks to my drive way and he did a real ____ty job at putting the car on the drive way. He literally slammed the front end of the car to the pavement when lowering it.

dude! when you called me after it happened, you didn't make it out to be that bad! Looks/sounds as if the guy hit you pretty hard! What's important is that you are ok. You say you feel as if you were checked by a lacrosse stick? Definitely talk to your insurance agent about seeing a specialist ie. chiropractor.
Good luck with everything,
Paul
Good luck with everything,

and on another side note. They really need to pass this cell phone hands-free law. Morons being distracted and not paying attention to the road in front of them is really starting to ____ me off. Not to say that your friend was on the phone, but still.
I know right? Damn, I just got off the phone with the auto company and I wont be getting the car back until tuesday or so. They didn't replace my sway bar, the ingalls shock tower brace, or the TRD Exhaust (I was hoping they would replace this, there is a dent in the exhaust), Other then that, its going to cost around 8k I think.... Thats alot for just quarter panel damage.
I would think so but I guess not. Their not replacing them, and part of the check the insurance gave us was for them to replace those parts. 7,133. We ended up giving them the claim number because they ended up going past 7,000 in damage, thats not including the sway and tower brace.
Alright, ideally, the car should be done on tuesday, not sure what time. They haven't returned any of my calls. My question is, if the insurance company included in the estimate and check, the price of the three aftermarket parts (progress sway, trd exhaust, and ingalls tower brace), that the autobody shop needs to replace those parts specifically right? Because the autobody shop is telling me that none of those parts need to be replaced. You tell me, from the looks of the damage, would the sway be salvageable? It looks bent to me, along with the tower brace. Or are they simply trying to milk out every dollar?
Ok, I got my car back yesterday, final word is, I'm not happy. We already paid them, but the parts they installed and the work are lifetime (so long as I own the vehicle). First off, I guess just looking at it at a glance, it looks fine, but getting up close and personal, you can see the flaws. I know this car will probably never look like it used to before the accident but I still have my right to have them fix it as best they can. 1) It looks like the paint job they did was good, but there seems to be small bits of sand on the body, it looks like they sprayed over it so theres small bumps (size of grain of sand) and it has been painted over. Should I complain about this? Secondly, the bumper was not put on correctly, it does not sit flush with the car, the tail light isn't flush either (Idk if its because the frame isn't shaped the way it used to be. Thrid, the air bag covers (Side curtain) are not securely fastned, their loose and when I go over bumps they virbrate (the covers). Fourth, the rim they replaced looks like crap. Possibly because its titled as "REMANUFACTURED". Costed them 179.99. The paint looks like it was just sprayed on, its un even and doesn't look like other rims (color wise). Lastly, I did not notice this until I drove past 20mph. I thought the sound that I was hearing was because of the brand new tire, but when I bought my tires brand new prior to the accident it was nice and quiet. The noies is coming from the rear end of the car where it was hit. My friend whose the tire manager at firestone said it could possibly be the Hub Bearing, something I guess auto shops overlook. Any ideas? I'm having all of this looked at on Monday. Last question. I'm alowed to be ____ed off right? I mean we ended up paying 7,500 for the repairs, and I understand its not an easy job but if I were to ask them to fix all the listed above, thats not too much to ask for right? And last last last question. I noticed after getting it back that the front bumper is some what loose, it doesn't sit flush, the clips that hold on the bumper (on fender) don't click in, plus the tow hook underneath the driver side is bent i'm guessing it is because the tow driver when he let the car down on our drive way did it too hard, at the time my dad and I thought it was just minor curb rash but I guess its more damage than we had expected, is it too late to file with the insurance? Thanks.. Sorry for long post, i'll take pictures asap.
If it were me, that car would be back there first thing in the morning and point everything out to them so they can't say you had back in your possession for x amt of time and that stuff could have happened after you drove it off their property but that's just me.
Take it back right away.. I worked at a toyota dealership and dealt with Matrix for yrs. They are the worst when it comes to getting stuff redone later down the road let alone getting it right the first time. Please take my word for it and go back soon..
Well, I dropped my car off on monday and their taking care of it, hopefully they'll do a good job. As far as refinishing and buffing out the areas on the quarter panel which had specs of sand or derbis, I hope they get all of it.
Ok I got the car back once again, they did the best they could, the tail light sits flush, bumper does as well, the head liner inside the car where the airbags deployed was fixed as well. The only problem I have now, is with the paint. Primarily because it looks like there are specs of sand and they sprayed over it. Also, where the door handle is and where the bond caves inward, it looks like an excess amount of paint is moving downwards. Best way I can explain it is like hot fudge melting and cooling. A ripple effect if you will. My friend told me to forget it and wait 2-3 weeks then wet/sand and buff it out. What do you guys think? Should I have the auto body shop re-finish the areas again or do it myself, if they do it again it'll be the third time.
Take it back, if they screw something up when trying to fix it, it's their dime to fix it, if you try to fix it and something goes wrong, it will be your dime to fix it. If it were me, I'd rather it be their dime.
