Speeding ticket
I went way too fast so the cop didnt even write down the fine amount. I must show up to court next month. 6 points
I think he was being nice, he put 23 mph over. I think in colorado if you go 24 over you go straight to jail. Sigh....
Schwetty,
There's tons of circumstances that will affect the outcome for you; was it State Patrol, was it a county-mounty, or a local (city cop). Also depends on what the speed limit was; were you doin 58 in a 35, or 78 in a 55, for example. The D.A. that you talk to will have a big influence as well. I got nailed doin 80 in a 50 (6 points) last year through Glenwood Canyon and the Statey did the same thing: fine not listed, just a court date. State law is that any ticket 6 points or higher requires a day in court. Here's my ray of hope for you: I went to court, dressed in my Sunday best, was very up front with the D.A., and ended up having the ticket reduced to a 2 point defective vehicle charge, paid $62 and went on my way. Just like when you're dealing with a cop, honesty is the best road here, most of them have heard it all and can smell the B.S.

next time you get pulled over (especially if the cop's a girl) put on an English accent. It got Ed out of a ticket going 87 in a 65... he just got a warning. The cop was a chick, though, but its also gotten him out of another speeding ticket where the cop was a guy. He got a lesser ticket cuz he told the cop he was Roman Catholic... lol.
He can't give you a ticket if he can't catch you. You just have to drive faster then he can radio for back-up. Then repaint your car and never drive down that street again. Easy.
I just hope what you said is true. Anyway, he said I was going 68 in 45. I dont know... i never check my speedometer unless im right next to the cop lol. OH well, the bright side is, its my first ticket ever since I came to this country 10 years ago. Not bad...

He wrote the ticket down for my being honest with him, and then he mentioned "If I could have gotten that truck behind you too, it would have been a sweet night."
They will ALWAYS write you a ticket when your "honest" with them. Because it would be stupid if tried to take the ticket to court if YOU tell him you were speeding. He would just tell the judge that you admitted fault at the time of the ticket. Then you would have to pay the ticket and court fees.
Or you could just not speed. But, were is the fun in that.

i got pulled for doing 35 over in DC, and the law there is 30 or more over means straight to jail. it happened around 1 am and i didnt get out of the station till around 7 the next morning. but on the plus side i got a court date and it went from $200 and 6 points to $100 and 2 points.
