1UP CREW DISCUSSION / SCION MEET
when u take the head off.. make sure u mark the timing chains, cam gears sprockets with a sharpie so when you put the timing change back on everything lines up. if your gona polish the VC lmk if u need tips on making sure you get the best shine.
since your poainting it no.. just sand it with 400 like you currently have it.. remove any imperfections or deep scratches... primer, wet sand 400, primer wet sand 400, paint your color, clear, take a drink, ur done... just make sure after the 2nd coat of primer its how u like it and its all smooth.. once u lay down paint any imperfections will show up and ur gona wana kill yourself lol
if your going to polish.. start with 400.. from there just go to my bbs thread and follow the grits like i did blah blah blah.. so i can get a mirror finish.

NEGATIVE!!!!!!! especially after the paint or clear... u need to let the paint set and almost dry then apply the clear.. once u clear it.. let it sit for a few days (5 to 7) to let the clear perfectly cure... if u heat it up and its not dry it wil bubble up on you.. once its cured... ur good to go...
BTW ... mask off the oil cap area and under neath if you continue to sand.. you do no want metal particles floating in your oil... and keep it masked till your done with clear... it should look like this..
my old valve cover project...
pre ANYTHING... a goo wash and cleaning then masking

then u can start to wet sand for primer then apply the primer..

then paint and clear... leave the removal of the masking for the very very end.. this ensures no foreign particles form paint, or metal or clear or anything are underneath waiting to mix with the oil.

I was wondering why my exhaust was sounding louder than before and I realized I had a leak. I guess gasket crapped out on the pipe connecting to the muffler. Nothing a little exhaust paste couldn't fix!
Ahhh sweet low rumble.....

Nothing some lock-tite won't fix ^^
