Florida Rocks!!!
i am from the midwest area too - OKLAHOMA CITY
and here are the major differences -
drivers - you got tourists, you got older people - you haev amix of norhtern adn southern dirvers - so you have no clue what to expect! its a mess!!!
weather - you'll love it - but it gets HUMID. the heat is not as extreme in the summer though - but the humidity makes it pretty bad. if you are in tampa - you will have enough of a breeze.... but NOTHING like the midwest. no ice, no snow.... and NO SEASON CHANGES (i miss that part) =( but its nice the trade all that in for sandy beaches and tropical plantlife.
if you move to the tamp area - move to CLEARWATER only. of you wanan move further south - move to SARASOTA OR VENICE... DO NOT LIVE INSIDE TAMPA.
working here sux. wages are too low, cost to live is too high. not a good balance. also housing is way mor expensive thatn what we are used to in the midwest. so prepare yourself. you want to make good money - you better have a degree, an established career, or work in a warehouse/UPS/hard labor.
one thing that is the best - THEME PARKS... no matter where in florida you live you are less than 6 hours forma major theme park... parks that people fly halfway aroudn the globe just to visit.... you get a special FLORIDA RESIDENT discount, and there are always seasonal passes... if you live in clearwater - it will take you about 30 minutes to get to busch gardens, 1 hr and 10 min to get to Disney World (dpending on I4 traffic), 1 hr and 15 minutes to get to Sea World and 1 hr and 25 minutes to get to Universal Studios....
FUN FUN FUN.. Miami is also only 4 1/2 hours from Tampa Bay. Daytona Beach - 3 hours or so.
plus we all know that Florida is SATURATED with SCION ENTHUSIASTS AND SCION CLUBS. so there is plenty of support here. its awesome. hope i have helped at all.

I have been all over the world thanks to the army and navy, but florida is home to me. There is nothing like it.... best thing is flat land..... ah yes no hills.... except for over passes and thet one place Mt. Dora.... climbed it in maybe 10 minutes.... but you are always next to a beach, near a theme park, great clubs and other attractions.... but most of all... its the sunshine state. Note: Do not move inside Tampa.... or inside Orlando, I-4 is hell... worlds largest parking lot. Other than that welcome to flat land!
