Default The Mother of All Car Shows!

I am new to Scion Life, but I would like to throw the Grand Daddy of all Car Shows!

I know I am a dealer and sometimes we don't do it right. I thought the Hollywood Scion Scream Show was a worthwhile event and that everyone had a lot of fun.

So here we go, to all the Scion Clubs out there, YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT AT A SCION CAR SHOW AND I'LL BRING IT! REMEMBER THIS SHOULD BE A FUN EVENT, RESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE, SO PLEASE LEAVE THE NUDITY OUT OF IT!

I also think, that if you are going to give constructive input, I would start with the judging, BBQ guy, music, trophies, space and anything else you can think of.

I am dead serious about trying to make this happen and if you are too, please HELP ME TO HELP YOU!

For those of you who came to our last show I THANK YOU!, here is my critique of our last show.

1. The judging sucked!
2. The BBQ guy was a little unruly (SORRY)
3. The trophies were cool...I thought they could have been bigger
4. The turnout was awesome!
5. The DJ was cool
6. Leslie worked her a*s off and did an awesome job!
7. The raffles and giveaways were off the chain!

So if you are serious and this is really Scion Life then BRING IT!, I'm a big boy and we'll step up to the challenge as long as you show an open mind and a willingness to make it better!

PS. Don't be shy with your comments, your friend in Scion BIG JIM, hope you all remember me!!!!!

Happy Holidays to all!

JJJIIIIMMMM!!!

Ok, guys...so after I heard a few things and of course I as told some of you would be working on trying to get a show together again and after reading everything in regards to some of you not wanting to go to Dealer shows, I had a little talk with my BOSS BIG JIM aka BIGFUGAZY!

Well, this was the result...he wants to do it BIGGGGGG...and since we all LOVE to hear your ideas ...now we want it straight from you...so as you read, please give us feedback and we'll do our best to DO IT RIGHT!

So, Jim wanted to sign on and he did and there's his post and he'll be hitting the thread and trying to answer everyone's questions or reading those comments...so please please don't be shy as he stated...let us know what you want and we'll try our best to accomodate everyone.

Please remember not all ideas can be made to happen but we will try our best, remember what you liked what you didn't and what we can do to make a change so it can be better...

I look forward to reading this and seeing everyone's ideas and of course taking notes but better than that bringing a new show to you all...so the faster this gets done, the faster we can have ourselves another show!

I'm down to go to Hollywwod shows! I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice, I think most want to see specific categorys engine bay, interior, etc.,. have a 1st 2nd and 3rd for each class. Sub categorys like this don't need huge trophies, but a simple plaque or something of recognition. I'd be happy going home with 3rd place engine bay for xB's than nothing at all, especially with the amount of work we put in for these shows as well. Early judging, plenty of notice for the show, etc.,. Maybe have a tech be one of the judges.. etc.,. A lot of guys with cleanly built daily drivers (built for speed and handling) need a class that is not all show boating add ons, they can
compete in. People want to see in depth judging, I know for me half my money is bolted under the car, and this needs to be recognized on every car. You guys did a good show last time!

The biggest complaint common to all dealer shows is lack of
knowledgable judges. I want to say some club presidents should be judges, but of course they would be nominating
from within, so I am not sure what the other options are...

Hello Tommylee!

give it at least 3 weeks, so I can get my system in... lol

All dealers should do this and get feedback from everyone :D. Although I missed the last show I will make sure to go to the next one.

hi BIG JIM and little leslie. im jason (duh).

i agree with the 7 points you posted there. to elaborate:

- judging: i think performance is a major part neglected in these shows. like someone else said, it might be a good idea to have a tech do that part. preferably a tech that knows what makes toyota engines GO. they obviously know how to fix things and make it run, but someone that's into tuning toyota engines. very different than someone that knows about tuning honda engines, for example. lol.

-models: i'd like to see HOT models. 2-4 girls would be enough. 2 if they're extremely hot, or 4 if they're very hot. (please don't have them judge the cars *cough* armstrong toyota... )

- power 96: lol.. have lucy lopez there cuz im in love with her and her "411 pain" ad.

i dont think we necessarily have to have a 1st,2nd, and 3rd engine bay, interior, etc. as long as we have good judges, i think those categories will have someone deserving. no matter what, no one will ever completely like the judging cuz everyone wants to win and everyone will think their car is the best. but as long as people win that are truly deserving and the majority can agree the person deserved it, then thats cool. it would be great if we had a "peoples choice", but everyone votes for themselves. lol.

- oh, and it would be cool if when they announce the winner, you could have a projector pointing at that big wall by the scion logo or a big plasma with the winners car so everyone knows which one won. i dont know if im making sense here. lol. like, take pics of each individual cars during the show and then the winner gets posted on the screen as it's announced by BIG JIM. i know when they announce the winners by name, everyones thinking "hmmm, what car did that guy have?"

Jim and Leslie. I would like to thank you both for all of the work that went into the October show. To think that you guys want to up the bar on the show. Well I was very please with how Hollywood Scion runs their shows. I have traveled all over the state and you all are on target with most of the scion community. The idea of sub-catagories is great. engine bay, interior.etc. I agree that there should a tech in the judging. Maybe even have a different catagory for those that are into the auto cross and such.... Just a idea. Crystal and I look forward to your next show and we will make that 4 hour drive again. Thats how much we enjoyed our self as did our little girls. that is something else to keep in mind. Family friendly too..... Talk to you both soon....John

First of all THANK YOU !!!!! Thank you for asking, you guys may be good at selling Scions, but pardon my french Don't Know Crap about them .... LOL

In general, the largest draw back to dealer shows has been the judging and that has been said and beaten to death already, so that should be first on your list of priorities.

The food, entertainment and so forth can be handled correctly by just about anyone on your staff im sure. Now IMO if you want to raise the bar on the quality of these events involve Ivan (UM Lunchbox). Beyond one of the nicest xB's ever built, that guy has mosre experience running and judging large car shows than most sales managers at dealerships.

He understands the brand, the vehicles and its multiple applications, (Show, Speed, Performance Driving) and therefore could almost guarantee a fair well judged and properly classed event.

Thats my 2 cents, anything short of his hand in the cookie jar and really, its just another dam dealer show ....

Reading all your replies and the feedback is well taken. Please keep in mind that constructive criticism is great, but let's be positive instead of negative. When you have a problem try and give a solution to the problem. People don't want to know how much you know, they only want to know how much you care. We don't sell extra cars due to Scion events. Our employees are not only Scion owners but are as involved in Scion Life as any other people that we know.

The judging idea and feedback is probably the biggest area of concern and we will come up with a solution. I thank all of you for bringing this concern to the table, because you are right. We as Manager's don't know jack sh*t about judging cars. We would like to think we know, but we don't.

May I also say it's time to put gratitude in your attitude, Dealer or not we are all human beings just trying to do the best we can. Sometimes we are right on the mark and sometines we fall short. My commitment is sincere and we want to put on a Great Show!

I will continue to work on it if you continue to help.

BIG JIM

PS Hot chicks is a great idea but trying to keep it Family friendly for my buddy in Deland!

The biggest learning factor, will come from expierience. Like was said, you guys had one of the better shows, so just make what changes you can, as they are neccessary and we will continue to show for your events. Start with judging.. recognize the tuners ability to build performance, as well as the talent of "for show" guys to build interiors and systems, etc.,. Thanks!

Letting the actual contestants Chime in wouldn't hurt either, sometimes the actual owners have a better evaluation as to who has done more work and is more deserving of a prize.

Although at times it can be biased, everyone can be somewhat objective.

lol. they don't have to be naked; a little bikini will do or a nice outfit that shows a lot of skin. a little skin never hurt anyone.

South Florida is catching up to the carshow scene. From the first show I have attended in Hollywood, to the October one, I saw great improvement. I thank Big Jim and Leslie.

But guys, the import scene is like rome. Cannot be built in a day.

Beautiful women are essential to any import scene. But I see the whole reason for the family enviroment, you have to keep it customer friendly too.

But there is nothing wrong with 5 to 6 girls wearing shorts and a tight tanktop. They arent wearing gstrings, or stripping.

As for judging, I think that they should round up Ivan, and any other repeat show winners, and give them a shot at judging. Then cycle it amongst show winners to keep it clean and fair.

And more coverage in local car magazines, like Bragging Rites. Invite promoters like Deep Vision Entertainment, Auto Craze, or Tuner Zine. It will allow for more exposure to the dealer, think of it as free advertising. And it will allow for more national internet exposure to the rides in Miami.
You know the mission I went through to get that tiny picture in Modified Mag! I think everyone should be able to feel that feeling of excitement of seeing their car on a show coverage site, or magazine.
