Default Questions on Florida Laws on Modifying POVs

Hello Florida Scion owners. I am moving to Miami in two weeks. I wanted to know how strict is Florida when it comes on modifying vehicles (headers, exhaust, etc). Do the state require emission tests every year? Is there any fees? How often is the renewal of the driver license? I have a 2005 Scion TC with Arizona plates. Please let me know. Thanks! Happy 4th of July!

not true really. the only place i ever got pulled over for my epically loud exhaust was in orlando by a florida state trooper who told me it was illegal to operate a motor vehicle in florida with modified exhaust or whatever.

so while they don't have vehicle inspections and whatnot, they can ticket you for nonsense. althought i got off with a warning since i'm an md resident visiting on vacation to walt disney world.

Hmmm.. well if that is illegal, then the TRD exhaust should not even be installed or an option in America. I know its from the dealer, but technically it is still a modified exhaust. Its stupid.

I am not worried about that. I have a greddy se that looks like just a regular axel back exhaust and very quiet. Unless I hit 4000 rpms or higher, it gets a good deep tone.

Thanks for that info.

i'll actually answer your questions....

1. Florida isn't too strict with mods, blue and red neons, led's, strobe guaranteed ticket or night in jail. as far as exhaust goes just don't eat **** like the rest of the morons in this town.

2. No emissions test or fee other than tag renewal (once every year) and license renewal (once every 4-5 years, no tests)

No emissions testing or heavy laws against modification, for now. I remember reading an article late last year though that explained Florida had intentions on adopting Cali-like laws in about 5-8 years. We're a blue state, after all. So don't be surprised if we move towards a "greener" Florida as per the will of the Democraps lol.

I wish I could live in Miami or north of it. I like it down there. Coming from Arizona, OP, you should enjoy it! It's probably going to be quite a change of scene lol.
