Rant about repair manuals
OK, so I may not be the most mechanically inclined person out there, but I can follow directions and do a good job. So,I attempted to change my blower motor on my 2006 Scion XA and in doing so became so frustrated and worn out that I cannot function right now. I even went to Toyota's TIS website and paid 15 dollars for 2 days access to do the job correctly.
Man was I a fool. It was no help at all or else I'm just incredibly stupid. I downloaded all the information pertaining to what I needed to do and I'm still confused as to how you remove the blower motor cover.
I removed the dash and although it mentions nothing about having to do so,I guess they think that this is a given and you already know it. I removed every single nut, screw, bolt that you were suppose to and nothing comes out. Yea it's loose as hell now and by the way there is a metal bar running across the bottom also and I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I am so ____ed right now I could chew nails. I waited the whole winter time to get this done since it's not been to bad. I can stand cold driving , but not 100 degree driving.
I swear I think they leave crap out so you cannot do the job and then are forced to take it to a shop which I will now do.DJ I don't know how the hell you figured this out,so my hats off to you for a job well done. By the way I noticed you live in Groveland as do I. I'm in the Cranes Landing East sub division. If you ever notice a gun metal XA driving around Groveland and Clermont with all the windows open and some middle age white cussing under his breath it will be me until I get this thing fixed anyhow.
You know if I had not have look in the glove box and seen I had no filter I would not be in this mess to begin with.I had a bright idea to make my own out of foam rubber and it worked until it burned out the motor from the stress of low air flow. GOD I feel so stupid.
