call up places in your area. mostly electronic car shops do it and it might be cheap you never know.

At the audio shop I worked at, we charged $215 with lifetime warrantee on labor (viper has lifetime warr. on the brain anyways). $250 as a side job seems a bit excessive to me... I used to do this kind of stuff on the side (before kids when I had time for stuff like that) and on average I'd charge a hundred bucks or so depending on the car (some are really easy, some suck major ***** to do. your scion is easy) And I have way more certifications than just the MECP (which those tests are a joke BTW) I'd personally recommend you call around to reputable shops. If you don't know who is or isn't reputable, then ask around for suggestions.

I really can't stress enough to get a quality install. If it's a crappy install, then you're destined to a lifetime of problems out of the system (and could potentially damage the vehicle itself). Have it done right the first time, and be done with it. I've only seen one viper brain ever go bad... seen a lot of poor installations causing problems, but the alarm itself is an excellent alarm. Have it done right, and you'll never have to worry about it again.

cheers
