Default 2013 FRS Pricing announced

2013MY Scion FR-S Highlights
This high performance sports car is the fifth model to join the Scion family. Inspired by the
Toyota AE86, FR-S is designed around the core goal of achieving, “Pure Balance.” This
balance begins with the use of the world’s only front-engine, rear-wheel drive configuration
using a flat boxer engine.
Some of the great standard features on FR-S include:
2.0 liter, 200 horsepower, naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine

Toyota’s cutting edge D-4S injection system with direct and port
injection

6-speed manual transmission that offers quick precise shifts with a short
throw

6-speed automatic transmission with rev-match and steering-wheel
mounted paddle shifters

Torque Sensing Limited Slip Differential

17-inch alloy wheels and ventilated disc brakes
FR-S’s interior cockpit instantly exudes a “sports car” feel. The front sports seats are shaped to
accommodate manual shifting and support longitudinal and lateral G-force. The leather
wrapped 3-spoke sports steering wheel, utilizes the smallest diameter in the Scion lineup.
The idea of “Pure Balance” is further realized by FR-S’s lightweight design and compact size.
This allows the car to be quick and nimble into and out of corners. This combination is further
proof that Scion is truly “Bringing the Sport Back to the Car.”
The FR-S will be available in seven colors including Raven, Asphalt, Hot Lava, Argento,
Ultramarine, Firestorm and Whiteout.

Pricing Summary Documents
MSRP for the FR-S six-speed manual and six-speed sequential automatic transmissions are
$24,200 and $25,300 respectively.
Model Transmission Description 2013 Base
MSRP
6253 6MT FA20 $24,200
6252 6AT FA20 $25,300

The closer the release date, the more comfortable I am with the thought of letting go of the tC.

Still have to wait until mid-summer before it hits dealers. The lucky First 86 people get theirs in a few weeks.

I love it. But how does this not cannibalize on the tC?

Either way, I love that it's being sold in bright colors. No waiting for an RS

This is a RWD sports car. The tC is neither of those things.

^^ I know, I would kick myself if I bought a tC2 and didn't know at the time about the FR-S or didn't wait for it.

Different target audience I suppose. Yes it's a RWD sports car but fits in the same line body/price wise as the tC2.

Thanks but my car is pretty stock really lol. I'm hoping for a private sale as-is to another Scion owner.

The FR-S is suppose to take over the tC's spot anyway. The FR-S is now the flagship for Scion.

Where did you hear that? Toyota doesn't have another car in the tC's segment. I doubt this is the end of it unless sales numbers are seriously tanking. Not to mention the different price point, potential buyer, and car type.

Not take over as in the tC goes away and is no longer produced. Take over in terms of being the "face" of Scion. The tC was the cash cow for Scion. Now it's going to be the FR-S.

Cannibalize in terms of business... You and I know the difference between these two cars, but the average consumer may not. Trust me when I tell you many car shoppers ignore the driving wheels.

There's only a 20 hp difference. Both have a 6 speed. Similar MPG numbers. The tC comes with bigger stock wheels?? Add a spoiler and few other things to a tC and the price won't be far off either.

They both have their place. I just feel these two cars should not be on the same lot, with the same badge. One of them should have been a Toyota.

I'm glad it wears the Scion badge. So my tC can have a sibling now...

so basically same price as a WRX, heavier then a miata..... sounds like a great deal

Should of priced it in the low 20's and just destroyed everything

Face is scion is done, esp with the other car companies stepping up there game.

Dont forget about the TT Velostar

The fanboys will be all over this but theres a lot better options for the price

I remember hearing low 20's when it first came out... One word for it... depressing.

THe TC2 can't be doing all that well, I rarely see any on the road. I'm pretty happy its badged a Scion. Pure pricing ftw! None of that dealer markup BS you're going to get with the Subaru BRZ.
