Default Bean Garage FR-S Build Thread

Just picked her up today - follow the build up of the Scion FR-S by Bean Garage here or on our blog or Facebook Fan Page.

We went with the Hot Lava FR-S and the BeSpoke audio package, I must say that it's a very nice ride! Coming from a 06 xB, it is a world of difference.

Our plan is to make the car a drift worthy daily driver with a retro theme. Follow the build up here....

UPDATE - BLOG POST

Out with the old, in with the new is how the saying goes. We recently traded in our shop Scion xB first gen for this beautiful Hot Lava Scion FR-s 2013, and what a change it is! We are loving it so far. Even with having half of the space of the xB, the car makes up for it in the other areas like under the hood, suspension, and overall styling. There’s such a great satisfaction with any length of driving it – Toyota/Subaru really nailed this car.

The Orange color (exclusive to the Scion version) is amazing. I always loved seeing this Hot Lava color on the release series xBs and xDs. The curves of this car suits the color perfectly, with the wide and accentuated rear arches to the Lexus LF-A reminiscent front end.

Handling in the Scion FR-S is dead on. You turn in and it simply just goes there. Paired with the rear-wheel drive delivery, it definitely makes for a fun drive around town. The highway speeds are very comfortable and solid feeling, not to mention we averaged 31.5 MPG on a 150 mile trip recently in this car!

One of the cool gadgets on the car is that the intake redirects noise to the cabin after you hit 4,000 RPM while driving. This makes for a better engine sound and feel, though you are tempted quite often to hit this level or above since the car revs so easily…

The first question would be : What to mod first? What do we do with such a special and potential platform? Well, stay tuned to this blog and see the updates to Project FR-S. What would be your first modification if this was your car? We are leaning towards suspension and wheels first…

We are also in the middle of adding several products to our Bean Garage catalog – Scion FR-S wheels, suspension, air intake, exhaust, JDM parts, and more aftermarket parts for this car. If you currently have an FR-S and are looking for parts, be sure to contact us today for a quote for anything you may need.

UPDATE ---

My $.02 is this: make your first upgrade the wheels/tires....it will be a whole different car with some Enkei RPF1's or some TE37's on there with a good set of summer tires

I think Suspension and wheels will be first mod for sure. It's already a well balanced car as is though!

I am leaning towards matte black RPF1 or bronze TE37V.... Nice choices you have there ;)

Yea my fiance is flying down to FL tomorrow. A little nervous, so hope all goes well. It's supposedly a Depression now and not a Storm.
