Ultimate Poser Ride?
In my opinion, when you have that many exterior mods but don't have a third pedal, you're just a poser. And honestly? I think it's a shame such a pure sports car was even offered with an auto, but I understand a lot of kids today are just lazy and don't want to learn stick, and manufacturers have to sell them cars.
Maybe the gray in my beard is messing with my judgement?
okay, I see your point of view, but im going to have todisagree on being a poser ride just because its an automatic. and id like tocorrect you on the title of this article, the FRS is owned by Beatsonic, so tome it should read "beatsonic's Supercharged Scion FR-S Looks WickedBut…" but that's just me, give credit to them at least.. back to the wholeposer thing.. I'm not exactly sure how you can be a poser when the higher endof cars don't even come with stick shifts.. the updated GTR (R35) its paddleshifter auto. if you'd like to talk about racing most of your door cars are allpaddle shifted, no more stick. To me every car person is different in what theywould like to feel I can see in this persons build they want look great driving around and feel comfortable with their ride, i mean ive seen this car in person and it is wicked nice. As far as kids being lazy now adays that's pretty true, but it also goes back the parents maybe never teachingthe kids to drive a stick or even having one accessible.
Paddle shifters are in the high end because they have transmissions that respond fast enough that's it's actually faster then someone can physically disengage clutch, shift, re-engage clutch. Still not a fan of it but ya. Straight up automatic with no paddle shifting or anything is definate poser car.
It is a shame that the car is automatic but that's the only thing I would gripe about. It's definitely not a full on race car setup. It's a nice street setup with some tasteful mods that most people wouldn't even have on their stock cars.

That said, the comparison between the DSG in the GT-R and an automatic doesn't really fly. And I'm sure the car is nice to look at, but I think it's weak to choose to drive a car as wicked as the FR-S with an automatic.
And as far as learning stick? Over the years, I've learned to do a bunch of stuff my parents never taught me how to do.
To each his own, but 9/10 car guys are going to see a ride like this and lose interest when they see it doesn't have a third pedal.
Have meet someone young that drives an auto 370z (that gets tracked) due to knee damage from war that caused him to need a cane to walk around..everyone drives the type of tranny for their own reasons, old or young, lazy or not. Also, I agree with g5_tc on the higher end cars though it is because they are much faster at self shifting then anyone can manually shift them.

Thanks for giving me the heads up. I corrected the title of the post.

If they did NOT sell an auto, or a variant of the car, the car would of never made the light of day. That right there, renders your whole point moot.
Second - You do realize there are handicapped people who LOVE cars, and may not be physically capable of driving a stick right?
Third - Are you the type of guy who "really" cares what other people think? I sure as hell don't.
Fourth - if your wife or GF can't drive stick, and WONT, and you have this as your daily driver - wouldn't it be wise to have something in an emergency she could drive you home in? Like from the bar, or if her car is getting worked on at the dealer/mechanic??
* This is coming from a guy who has a 400+hp Kraftwerks Civic SI - Offered ONLY in a manual. My car would SMASH on 99% of the cars here. I've taken down high end clientele with my car. Criminal ALSO has a boosted 8thgen like I do. I get people asking me "why drop so much cash in a CIVIC" - the answer is clear, its got LSD, its performance oriented, and when done proper - destroys 99% of stuff I come across on the road. The interior is freaking awesome (dual display digital dash) and it revs to 9k, and makes power quick. I also have a 08 CBR1000rr that will do well over 190mph - verified.
I would never down another enthusiast for what they own. You can take anything and make it a beast. Some people appreciate it, others question it. For anyone questioning what 400hp kraftwerks kits do, come to Harrisburg PA.
Some people are ONLY into looks, some like performance, some build the ultimate OEM+ car. Some want a monster audio car (I have done all of this listed) - Who are you guys to hate? The car is clean. Its not like its all pepboys stuff, and even if it is - while I might chuckle, I would still talk to the guy. Not everyone runs an Insurance Agency that sells to Doctors like I do. I could afford whatever I wanted within reason. But instead, I bought my car CASH, dropped 8k into the motor, and turned it into a total sleeper, that has beat m3's, RS audi's, 370z's, 338i's, STi's, you name it. Even smashed on a 600 ninja. I have other vehicles too, but the SI is the tuned up/*** you up car I have. And if thats not enough, my CBR makes more HP that the new tC's and FRS do to the wheel, 3rd gear no clutch wheelies all day.
Please don't come on here, especially as a mod - and think your better than people. You'll give off new members some sort of entitlement, when they should come humble, and hungry to learn.
And just to add, I'd take that car over a stock manual FRS/BRZ, ANY DAY. Guarantee you it slides out way easier, drifts better, and is much more rewarding to drive, than snicking a few gears around.
I get to drive manual gt3rs and z06 and daily my auto tc. The two nice ones are a family friend. Tc I bought because budget (college student) and knew I could make it look nice. I'm stuck I'm traffic most the time so don't need a 400hp civic :p but I bet it is nice to step on in. To each their own and anyone that takes pride in their car I chat to happily. Unless all you do is bash on others cars and want to street race. Then I may possibly not.
