PowerBass build on HAOLEBUILT II
Work has begun on the PowerBass USA audio system in the iQ. The door panels have been removed and will be altered to allow the installation of 6.5", 1" and 8" speakers. This will involve some bracing and fiberglass work.
The rear seat has been removed to make room for the sub enclosures and the amplifiers. There will be four 10" subs and three amplifiers.
Today a made a floor board for the audio system to sit on. This will be our level starting point for building the sub enclosures.
I installed the XM Satellite radio antenna and receiver.
The RCA dual shielded audio cables were run from the head unit to the rear area as well as the remote wire for the amp turn on.
The 0 gauge wire has been run from the battery to the circuit breaker and then through the firewall to the rear of the iQ.
Here are some pictures of the progress...

The Powerbass USA audio system build continues. Gene from X'Quizit Designs did the majority of the work and I'm happy to say I was able to lend him a hand. There was lots of measuring and remeasuring to make sure everything would fit. The layout was changed several times. In the end we used a welded square tube frame for the amp rack and built enclosures for the subs and door speakers. The door panels presented their own unique difficulties since there is almost no flat surfaces. Gene hand formed the enclosures for the 8 inch mid speakers from aluminum and then used fiberglass to attach them. The stock locations were used with custom hand made speaker ring spacers and then custom covers were fabricated to blend the enclosure to the door.
The system is not quite complete, we are still going to add two more 8 inch speakers to the back with custom enclosures and replace the stock rear speakers with 6.5 mids and 1" tweeters.
The iQ was on display at the Powerbass booth at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Nevada and the system was a hit. I did the demonstration of the sound system for hundreds of people and everyone who heard it was amazed.
There will also be an Audison Bit One added in the next few weeks.
I wish to express my thanks to Powerbass for providing the equipment for this project and to Gene from X'Quizit Designs for all the hours of hard work he put into this build.

The HAOLEBUILT II project was on display in the Powerbass USA booth at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas Nevada January 8 - 11, 2013.
Powerbass sponsored the audio build on the project and I'm happy to report they were very impressed and pleased with the results of the system.

There was little interest in the OEM Audio Plus system for the iQ. The company has decided to put production on hold. Since HAOLEBUILT II is a show car and the OEM Audio Plus system doesn't really show I decided to go with the PowerBass USA products.
OEM Audo Plus makes an outstanding product for those who wish to have all components fit into the stock locations.
My new system using PowerBass equipment is a different direction and much more visible for showing.
