Brake pad upgrade
Hi!
next year im taking my IQ to a track. I want better pads, as im not sure if OEM pads would be able to take the abuse.
i have a 2009/2010 1.0 and there are only OEM replacements available when i search for pads using my VIN. But if i search for 2011 models and up there are a ton of alternatives. Are there any differences in the front brakes for the different models and model years? Would i be able to use pads from a newer model on mine?
i am also on the lookout for steel braided brake hoses.
any help is greatly appreciated!

Look up the part number for the pads that fit your year, then compare with the part number for the 2011+ and see if it's the same. Toyota doesn't change their brakes that often, chances are they're the same as what's on something else and there will be an upgrade available (same for the lines). That said, I really like Powerstop Z23/Z36 pads if you can find some that fit your calipers.
Also I'd recommend ATE TYP 200 fluid. Fantastic value and great boiling point.

Thats what i ended up doing, i called up the stealership i used to work at and found out all the part numbers for the front brake pads and rotors are the same from 2008 until 2014 in Toyotas part catalogue. Only 2015 was slightly off, perhaps its just a compound change but i am gonna stick to searching using the 2014 model Scion/Toyota IQ to be safe. Perhaps someone will weigh in with more information in the future
