Default Durst Takes Second in All-Motor at Las Vegas

TORRANCE, Calif., July 17, 2006 - -Leslie Durst-Armendariz drove the Horizon Motorsports tC to second place at the Las Vegas National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Sport Compact Nationals in the All Motor class this past weekend.

Durst-Armendariz, in her first finals appearance of the season, faced Jeremy Lookofsky in the last run. The Horizon Motorsports All Motor tC ran a 10.24 elapsed time (e.t.) at 134 mph, while Lookofsky ran an e.t. of 10.03 at 137 mph.

The Horizon Motorsports All Motor tC ran a great set of sprints. Durst-Armendariz took the number three qualifying position with a 10.43 e.t. She then raced Eric Darby in the first found of eliminations and won with a 10.31 e.t. at 134 mph. Second round eliminations set Durst-Armendariz up for with a bye run in the semifinals as she took Saul Salceda with an e.t. of 10.14.

Fellow Scion racer Brad Personett, in his Titan tC, continued his strong run this season as the number one qualifier in the Pro RWD category with a 6.58 e.t. at 216 mph. Personett was eliminated in the semifinals by Gary White.

Christian Rado and new Scion driver Kenny Tran brought out their new tCs in Las Vegas, but were unable to run due to missing parts.

Durst-Armendariz is scheduled to race again at Number One Parts, Incorporated (NOPI) New York, July 21 and 22, at the New York International Raceway in Leicester, N.Y. Rado is scheduled to be at NOPI New Jersey, July 29 and 30, at the Atco Raceway in Atco, N.J.

How much motor of his "all motor" was still stock? He obviously changed out enough to get around the speed governor.

Probably not much.

Unless I'm just really clueless I'm pretty sure that "All Motor" is synonymous with Naturally Aspirated.

I would like to know what management it's running, as I would like to upgrade and have the potential to run faster than 127mph speed cut.

Sometimes I wonder how well the 2AZFE would do with all the electronics ripped off, replaced with a distributor and some big twin carbs.

I was afraid that this topic was going to be about Fred Durst. I was ready to hate all over it and everything.

I actually talked to the mechanic that built Leslie Durst's Horizon Motorsports tC and got a close look at motor, the intake manifold is from a honda h22 engine for all you honda heads out there, header is custom built 4-1 race header one piece with no cat-back, it just comes down with 3 inch opening under the engine. The compression is like 12 something with a custom fuel rail, with a bored block and ported head perfomance head full of goodies

I am almost sure she is running the same engine as chris rado just without the turbo and obviously bulit for n/a.

chris rado is not running a 2azfe and she probably isnt runnign a 2azfe either. They are running the toyota tacoma truck block. that is why we still cant get alot of special go fast parts. bastards

Yep! Durst uses a 2AZ.

I would love to know how much modification the H22 intake manifold underwent to fit the 2AZ. That would definitely make a ported head a lot more worthwhile.

Right now we are the only team of the 4 Scion Racing Teams running the 2AZ. The Titan team is running the 2JZ (Supra) & Chris and Kenny are running the 3RZ (Tacoma)

The availabilty of after market parts has nothing to do with which motor which team is running........

We ran a 9.79 @138mph last weekend to Qualify in the number 1 position. We made it to the finals where we had a transmission failure & finished in the runner up position.
We are racing again this weekend in Epping, NH ...
Anbody thats local please come out and say hello !!
