Im sorry but in my opinion and just about everyone I run into the XB2 is so much better looking.

Here is how is goes usually

Me: oh yea I drive and XB
Someone: oh, yea I dont like those

Walk out to the car

Them: "ohhh is this the newer one? man this looks so much better then the old boxy junk"
Opinion?

My cousin and I laugh at fat xb2s when we see them.

Yeah, just opinion.

But they really are two different vehicles with the same badge,
its apples and oranges.

It's like comparing a Camry with a Yaris almost.
Yes that is my opinion

Honestly I would be embarrassed to drive an XB1, but of course that's just me.

I also laugh at XB1's when I see them, especially when I see them trying to merge into traffic without getting hit by a yugo!

If Gen2s peaking at 6000 and Gen1s at 8000 - aren't you being seen everywhere? At least more so than the B2...

Similarly, the one thing I hear about xB2 owners has already been said in this thread: "He never would have considered the first gen."
Actually, I seriously considered a Gen1 - I liked its looks, liked the gas mile and it was just a fun, yet utilitarian vehicle with a lot of options for personal play. It's resell value actually played against me getting one just a little bit. The extra space of the B2 is what won me over - I fully plan on having this vehicle for 10+ years, and I wanted something that if I decided to have a family, throwing 2-3 kids in the back wouldn't be an issue, and the standard safety features and good ratings played into that as well, but ordinary cars like a Camry or Matrix or even RAV4 were just so BLAH! I also needed the extra room for when/if I decide to open my own business. The B1 would have been fine, but that extra foot comes in handy.

I dunno, I have still experienced a lot of love from xB1 owners - I cruised with a Gen1 I'd never met before the other day down a main street, and we were enjoying ourselves immensely showing off our cars to each other. In the end, it's all in the family.

Toyota tailor made the gen 2 xB for Americans who like big boats to drive.

The Venza better not be a good seller...

Big boats? maybe that is why the prius is soo popular, it feels like you are driving an up side down one.

The venza is suppose to cater to pet owners, something I am not. Looks to me like a redesign of the matrix s awd.

The Prius is in its own market, until the Insight comes out again.

Great line no matter what. 1st Gen or XB2 both are great rides and grab alot of attention. Scion/Toyota make a great vehicle and I'm proud to own a couple

The Prius is an excellent little car. People want to put it down cause the green club and the intellectual upper crust dig it, but it's actually very comfortable, very savvy, and I like it's push screen controls and NAV with BT and voice command. If I made enough money to own one beside my xB2, I totally would.

Totally agreed. It was a hard decision deciding between the 1 and 2 for me cause they're both great cars with a great look to them. The xB2 really grew on me though, and there's a whole list of reasons I chose it. I just wish it had better MPG. It's the only thing I'd really change so I wouldn't have to drive it like so conservatively to get the mpg I want.

I loves 'em both. ROAR!

So if the Mustang II is considered a smaller anemic version of a real Mustang, where does that leave the xB1?

Admired as the original whose reputation was tarnished by an ill-advised redesign.

I just can't wait until they make a hybrid Xb or xB2!! The only thing cooler than these cars, would be these cars with 50 miles to a gallon and a 70% smaller carbon footprint.

Or even one better.....

You mean the reputation of being ugly? Can't see how that could be tarnished!

I love the gen 1, but have to admit, I get people walking up to my car all the time, "Oh, is this the new one? Thank god, that old one was UGLY - I heard it rattled about like a tin box. I might actually drive this one."

The "reputation" can go either way with the 1 or 2. My xB2 has been called ugly as well.

Having been a car guy and knowing what manufactures do throughout history, scion did well with the xb gen 2. Not only did they make it bigger, but kept the fuel economy and added more power. Lets see the first gen with an automatic do 0-60 in 8 seconds or wizz throughout wva at 75 mph regardless of grade.

As for the prius, it is a nice car. Its full of features, not to mention fuel economy. It does suck in the performance area, however you can get it above highway speeds, keep it there and still exceed the fuel economy of a similar none hybrid mid size sedan.

I tried to buy a prius twice, but the dealer just jerked me around regarding price of a car with option 2 and jerked me around with my trade. Of course there ar emany cars on the road for less, that get the same or better fuel economy, they are just smalelr in size.

Thats ok, I got the xb for hauling and family trips, a geo metro for economy.
