sorry about that. Just love my Scion. please click on link so u can see a video of my xA chasing down other RWD vehicles. I will post it on that thread. I like proving people wrong. The average consumer "assumes".

Fist of all, the Mazda Demio( green car) is not being built cuz it already exists and is about as big as a xD these days. So i guess it could be a Scion fighter, but why. They tons of 3's(Axela's). They don;t need it.

AWESOME QUOTE!!! I LOVE IT! im gonna steal it!

i daily drive a tc...have raced it... NOTHING COMPARED TO A MIATA... which will eventually make my tc my permanent daily driver... MIATA race car... summer car hehehe IM SO EXCITED! used to own a mazda...before i got my scion...love my scion, great daily... but I'LL ALWAYS be a mazda owner at heart... ill be getting another one hopefully in the next year or so..

miata will out handle the tc any day! autoxed both... and WOW! what a difference... but then again its lighter, RWD and of course like coryjames said... "made to handle" ... tc... not a chance... unless you have spent an ungodly amount of money on the car, then maybe it'll keep up...plus it also depends on the driver too

MAZDA FTW! KANSEI ENGINEERING!

true...what gen miata does your dad have, an N/A 1988 to 1996? or an NB 1997-2005? since the NA is a lot lighter than the NB..the NA has the tendency of the rear breaking loose. but with it being lighter, and RWD it has an easier time getting around the corners, and you can toss it around like nothing, but yeah it does like to break loose.. ive spun one... its kinda fun!

Dont jump the Scion ship yet people! Just wrap your gray matter around this:

2009 - Toyota re-introduces the AWD in their Corolla based Matrix. The XRS model will have the 2.4 powerplant we have all grown to love in the TC's and second gen xB's.

My prediction, and i am usually pretty good and predicting trends ;), we will see an AWD Scion soon! How soon you might ask. I would think maybe as early as 2010 model vehicles, which means summer of 09. that means, in about 18 months, some of us could be boosting around in AWD Scions! its a beautiful thing, dont you think?

Haha! my dream or not , i think it is on the horizon. there is a market for it, and i think Toyota is on top of the growing trend in AWD performance vehicles.

I have to say with a little research and ambition it is possible to do this now. If you look at the 06 rav4 it uses both the 2AZ-FE and the 2GR-FE engines and all models in the U.S. are optional 2WD or the 4WD on demand system. Which I think is a good set-up. However I think that the two transmissions used are automatic only but I'm not to sure on that. In sticking with what this thread started out as though I have to say I bought the car I wanted so though a new RWD in our spocom class is a novel idea for most ppl I think I will stay with my TC as I am secure in the knowledge that with money, time, and tlc I could keep up with the other brands.

Good points! And the unfortunate news with the AWD XRS Matrix is that it will only be in automatic form, no 5 or 6 speeds. However, i cant imagine Toyota not being able to mate a manual with the 2AZ and make it an AWD platform. Only time will tell, this is just speculation as of now.

I hope to the car gods they DON'T add an AWD option, because every "innovation" adds 10% to the price and brings Scion closer to being Mini-Subaru.

The brand was launched to bring young people (>35) into the Toyota family with cheap, fun, wacked-out cars. The xB and xA's replacements are already lurching away from the "cheap" category (in terms of sticker price and fuel efficiency). The more-expensive, thirstier 2.5L was bad enough; don't give them any more reason to raise the price.

If an AWD model arises, I hope to hell it's built under the Toyota nameplate, because one more "amenity" in the Scion family and we're going to have older average buyers than Toyota. It's hard to attract younger buyers when nobody under the age of 40 can afford the car.

If Scion really wants to get back to it's roots, they'll release that dirt-cheap, fun-as-hell compact sport pickup.

I have two responses to this. The XP appears to be great concept for 2010 but I haven't found anything concrete beyond that. Secondly, I have to agree yes adding options raises the price of vehicles but then again that is why they are called options if you don't want them don't buy them. I think that the TC was a great addition to the spocom area of cars but you have to remember that if you allow your product to stagnate then ppl quit buying it. So far each line as been up graded or replaced except for the TC it's time for new options or a stronger design.

10% to the cost? Look at the things that were added to the 2008 TC. 6 standard airbags, IPOD connectivity, better headlight design (IMO), etc.., and they went up a whopping $200. That to me is pretty fair considering just the cost of airbags!

And Toyota dropped the Celica and turned the sport compact focus to the TC. That being said, i highly doubt they would release a new sport compact under the Toyota name while the TC in still in production. I think it is more realistic they produce a slightly more expensive TC with a more performance type packaging on it. Will it happen? maybe not, but if they build them, they will sell.

And that doesnt mean that Scion cant release a "dirt cheap" truck, but that is doubtful too since it would cut into the sales of the base model Tacoma.
