Default Next Scion xB Production Readying in Kentucky?

Toyota is moving Camry production from their main Kentucky plant to Indiana... why? Hmmm... it looks like they are going to start building a "tall station wagon" in the Kentucky plant. What new tall wagons could be on the horizon, perhaps a new Scion? It looks likely!

http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.ph...1-083226-2077r

Toyota will make Camry sedans in Lafayette, Ind., opening room at its main car plant in Kentucky for a new tall station wagon, industry analysts said.

...kinda doubt you will see a Kentucky built Scion .
...right now the Georgetown plant cannot produce enough Camrys . The plant in In. will help to reach the 11% increase in sales Toyota wants .

Hmmm... so are you saying that you don't think this information is credible? It's a pretty specific claim that a tall wagon will be built in the Kentucky plant... doesn't seem like a guess to me.

This will not be the new xb, there is a new cross over vehicle being made by Toyota that has no relation to the new xb

No way it's a Sienna or an xB. If it happens at all, it will be something altogther different.

Default Total Speculation

This is speculation but is there any chance the 'tall wagon' will be the JDM Ractis? There has been lots of talk about whether the Ractis will be the next gen XA. I personally would love to see them bring it over.

Well, I can tell you that the new Sienna will be built in Princeton, IN i also know what model year it will be. I know this because I build the sienna van in princeton already and they do keep us up on most things. If they were going to shift production they would already be telling us we were getting a different vehicle...and no, the sienna isnt selling enough to require a second producion plant we can build a lot more at the current facility. However there is speculation around the plant that Scion might move to Princeton.... no one is telling for sure what is up but there has been activity around that indicates a big project might be under the way soon...

Speculation; doesn't mean a tall "Station Wagon" is the Xb...Besides u all know that unless u hear it directly from the Toyota souces, it's all for fluff just to get us and everyone else ranting an raving...and we all usually are very far from the facts! Just wait, what is really going to be built there isn't even in stone yet!!! I come from big Corporation background, it won't be anything you think it is, some reporter just heard one thing and rushed it to print.

Dont know what changes are going to be and if i did i coulnt tell much without risking my job. The model year for the new sienna isnt one of the ones listed I cant tell you exactly when without job risk again but it is close to what you said....Expect a big change...one comperable to the Tundra...it is a major change...I wish I knew what it was going to be though, Ive seen pictures of some of the newer vans in Japan and I think they are ugly I hope they arent what the new sienna will be based off of. I can tell you this though, every year for the last couple and the next few model years they are implementing big changes for is only a minor model change, this van is something they are really wanting to be a market owning machine. No one would be hurt to buy one now or in the next few years, they will be getting an outstanding vehicle. We have been building the sienna there since around 2003 or so. Let me tell you, I respected Toyota vehicles before, but after working at the plant and actually seeing how important quality is to them I wouldnt own anything else.
