Default Pricing Announced for 2008 Scion xD

Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., is pleased to announce pricing for the all-new Scion xD compact urban utility vehicle. It will be arriving at dealerships in early August 2007. Pricing will be announced to the public on Friday, July 13, 2007.
Exterior Styling

The all-new 2008 xD enters the Scion lineup as the aggressive compact hatch with unique appeal to the young buyer. Its distinctive form exhibits stability with a firm stance and wide overall width. Massive fenders and short overhangs contribute to the xD’s muscular exterior. Horizontal headlamps and turn signals integrated into the side mirrors are design elements taken from the Scion family lineup. A chrome exhaust tip and standard 16-inch wheels are offered with a choice of three wheel covers.
Performance

An all-new 1.8L DOHC engine with dual Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i) provides the xD with excellent acceleration performance and fuel economy. This engine is optimally combined with either a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission. The 2008 model year fuel economy ratings are calculated under a new formula that is more reflective of real world driving conditions.

xD fuel economy ratings are comparable to xA (30 combined with new formula, 34 combined with old formula), even with the improved engine performance and larger size. The xD features a front MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam suspension. The suspension and handling characteristics have been carefully tuned to ensure excellent drivability, stability, and riding comfort.

The xD interior features room for 5 passengers and cargo. Driver and front passenger bucket seats provide a sporty yet comfortable ride. The 60/40 split rear seats fold flat, slide, and recline for ultimate comfort and cargo flexibility. The interior also features 4 cup holders and 4 bottle holders, rear deck cargo hooks, and hidden storage boxes under the cargo deck.

Comfort and convenience features include cruise control and a tilt steering wheel with audio controls. Power windows, door locks, and keyless entry are also standard. A radar-like meter displays the speedometer and tachometer in one concentric gauge. A multi-information display allows the driver to toggle through the odometer/trip meter and cruise information including instant fuel consumption, average fuel consumption after refueling, drivable distance, and average vehicle speed.

xD shares the same standard audio system with the ’08 model year xB and tC. The 160-watt Pioneer AM/FM/CD audio system features direct iPod connectivity and a mini-jack port. iPod song navigation and selection can be controlled from either the head unit or steering wheel controls. While the iPod is connected, the track, artist, and album information is displayed on the audio screen. In addition, the user has the ability to program a personal welcome message on the head unit display. The optional premium audio system has all the same standard features, yet has the added ability to download images, four-second video clips, and eight-second movies onto its OEL screen. Both audio systems offer key Scion audio system features such as Scion Sound Processing (SSP), satellite radio compatibility, MP3 and WMA capability, Automatic Sound Leveling (ASL) and Sound Retouch Technology (SRT), which provides clearer CD sound quality. An ultra-premium Scion Navigation System (SNS) is also available. The standard six speaker configuration consists of two tweeters and four speakers (one in each door panel).

The Scion xD is well-equipped with standard safety features, including:
4-wheel Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA)
Driver and front passenger dual stage airbags (SRS)
Driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags
Front and rear side curtain airbags
Driver and front passenger active head rests
3-point front seatbelts with force limiters and pretensioners
3-point rear seatbelts with Auto/Emergency Locking Retractors (ALR/ELR)
Direct tire pressure monitor system
Side impact door beams
First Aid Kit

TMS Corporate Accessories Department, TRD, and Optomize will offer a broad array of accessories to allow customers to create a vehicle that is both unique and personal.

CAD will offer 30 accessories for the xD. There are several all-new and exciting genuine accessories such as the Scion Navigation System (SNS), illuminated door sill plates, and remote engine start.

TRD will offer nearly 16 performance related accessories, including such items as quick shift kit, air filter, sport muffler, and lowering springs.

Optomize is poised and ready to fill in where CAD and TRD leave off. We have secured exclusive rights to market and distribute the exciting new body kit by FiveAxis. It will be the only xD body kit on the market at launch. This kit is styled after the FiveAxis xD show car that was on display at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show. In addition to the body kit, Optomize will expand its line up to include more under hood and exterior/interior dress up parts, Scion Release Series accessories and Tuner wear.

The release only says that it will be arriving in dalerships in "early August".

Accessories include navigation, and a FiveAxis body kit "styled after the show car that was on display at the 07 Chicago auto show", illuminated sill plates, remote start and about 30 others. You know the typical Scion stuff.

No pricng on accessories yet

Does the release state invoice and MSRP? And I'd read the only factory option was traction/stability control. Does it include a price on that factory install?

$15.1 is ok. $2K more than xA, though.

I'll still get one if August ever comes.

about $1k to much i think. why get this over a fit or versa? remember style is subjective so dont come back with "it looks better" i dont think Scion can mark there prices up over the rest because of brand identity (IE BMW and Ferrari)

Fit S is comparable to xD, but 20hp less and costs $1K more. Versa: with 15" alloys, 6-speed and bluetooth it's $300 cheaper than xD. (although you do get 2 more speakers and iPod connector on the xD). So it's pretty close to the xD feature / price wise.
