Scion F-Stop: Scion Photography Contest
SCION PRESENTS F-STOP: SHOOT A SCION, SCORE A CONTRACT
Launched in April and ending in September 2007, Scion is sponsoring a viral online photography contest to expose gifted amateur auto photographers and reward them with a chance to win a $3000 grand prize, and an UrbanRacer.Com photo contract worth an additional $2000. In addition, two runner-up entries will win $1,000 each for their efforts.
Contestants must submit up to three photos of a Scion, whether it be the contestant’s or not, modified or stock to scionfstop@UrbanRacer.Com. The Scion vehicles can be an xA, xB, tC, xD, or a concept car. Monthly finalists will be posted each month online at UrbanRacer.Com.
Judging will be done by a panel of four judges representing all of the major areas of automotive publishing - including professional automotive photographer Mark Urbano, MotorTrend Magazine senior editor Edward Loh, professional art director Ti Tong, and Bob Hernandez, editor of UrbanRacer.Com. For any budding photographer and car aficionado, this is a unique opportunity to showcase talent and be introduced to industry players.
UrbanRacer.Com is an online publication that covers the sport compact performance industry and import tuning. Car tuning is both an industry and a popular hobby, in which a car is modified in order to improve its performance and handling and better suit the owner's driving style. Tuning has become a way to personalize the characteristics of the vehicle to the owner’s preference, something for which Scion owners are celebrated.
“Some of the most creative owners' groups today come from Scion because the brand is so customizable", said Jackie Ling, editorial director of UrbanRacer.Com. "While it's easy to spot this talent via their modified Scions, this creativity often spills into many other not so visible areas - including photography. F-Stop exposes this talent and creativity, and provides a chance for a few lucky individuals to further it."
F-Stop is one of many Scion contests meant to uncover and cultivate raw artistic talent. F-Stop takes potential and allows it to prosper through professional connections and contracts. Scion’s support does not stop once the winner has collected his or her prize. In many cases, Scion has continued to promote and use contest winners in future art, design, music and creative projects.
