Default Scion sales for April increased 41.5%

Japan-based auto manufacturer Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. (TM) announced a 4.5% fall in its April sales from last year led by lower truck sales. On an unadjusted basis, sales grew 3.4%.

The company’s April sales slipped 4.5% to 217,700 from the year earlier month. The Toyota Division’s sales fell 2.7% to 194,350 units for April, while Lexus Division’s sales dropped 17.1% to 23,350 units over the year-ago month.

Everytime I fill up at the local wawa dealer I get a person or two walk up and ask about fuel economy as they said they hear they get good fuel economy. I driver nearly 400 miles a week now and fill up on a weekly bases.

Shih...i barely get 22 mpg city, my tc is not fuel efficient at all i dont know why, it used to get like 25, and everytime i get a new oil change i always get more, someone said earlier on another forum to shift around 3.2k to get the best mpg......on the highway though, i get close to 30, which i cant complain about, but i seldom use the highway!

Beats me. You think a square shape would be the least fuel efficient, but hey, it worked for the Borg. The high celling of the fit, versa and other sub ultra compact cars hurt their fuel economy, but look at the xa.

I am rather dumbfounded when I look at designs of cars and fuel economy. Heck, my brother upgraded his kia rio to a spectra. Who knew the larger car on the same route can get better fuel economy? 23 v 33mpg.

What Scion not going belly up? What Scion won't be redesigning the xB the day after tomorrow? What will be come of all the plans for what Toyota has to do to save Scion.?

You need to be careful with this statement. We don't know yet who is buying these vehicles. Scion wasn't supposed to be just a brand but a 'lifestyle' - if 50 year olds are buying Scions, Scion is then poaching from Toyota and Lexus.

The idea was youth buys Scion, as they get older buy Toyota, and late in life buy Lexus. If you have the 40+ demographic buying Scions, it undoes a lot of the urban, underground attempts Toyota has been making.

In other news, the Toyota Matrix originally was designed for young people, but when the average buyer age was higher than expected, they redid the exterior to give it a more classy look in line with the Highlander. Sales were still pretty flat, so here's the next revision.

Default Sales

When I bought my XA in 06 I was 55 years old, kind of screw the statistics, but I love it. Trying to talk my 'much younger" wife into getting a new XB, but she gets great gas mileage in her 2000 Lexus ES 300, 24 city- 30 on a trip, a bit more luxury than the XB, I wish the XB had a leather option, then she may go for it.

i'm currently getting ready to send off my hydrogen water fuel cell designs off to get some raw metal machined for the build. as soon as it's setup and working i will be glad to show anyone who is within the local area to me how it works and it's increase in fuel economy to the scion vehicles.

i'll need one of those niffty heads up displays that tells average MPG to get a real reading when it's installed but i'm expecting atleast a 30-50% increase in efficiency at the minimum. the design is meant to go full on rather then just a hydro-booster. if anyone is up to it, which i'm sure many of you would probably be slightly interested in better economy, i would be more then happy to share my designs and help along with any setup.

we get good economy, no doubt. but we can get alot better if the application is focused on. this is exactly what i've been doing so i can help with this part. BUT, anyone with a turbo or supercharged setup may need to hold tight still. at the moment the design is fully able to work as a hybrid fuel system but it's true purpose is to be a complete replacement of using gasoline. i'm positive it will work as a replacement, but i've not yet tested it on a F/I setup, specifically the effect of different exhaust flow if there is any to begin with and what will be done to turbo exhaust housing side to protect against any corrosion if it may be a problem.

i don't mean to sound like that one guy who is trying to do the impossible. i've been working on this system for a while, i know it works, i've watched it work and i've seen other vehicles with a complete replacement system and have been running for years without a problem so if they can do it, we can do it.
