Voluntary Recall on 2005-2006 Scion tC
P.P.S. I got my letter, but I never once showed it to them or even acknowledge that I got it. I just told them that I was informed of the recall, "Oh yeah, we heard of that, i'll order the parts for it, come in next week". That simple!
Shows you what happens when you don't check SL for a month or so - a recall pops up on you!
I got my letter in the mail today, the first I had heard of it. Called up my service dept. and have an appointment for early saturday morning to get it taken care of.

My appointment is for next Tuesday. I think I am one of the first tC's to be done as the dealership didn't seem too aware of the problem. They had to look it up for all the details.
I just did the live chat with them and I am #1337 of the 2.0 release series and they stated that mine is NOT part of the recall.
At least my car will not have any more squeeks or rattles due to a clip breaking on the door panel.

My tC was the first one to get done at that dealership. It took about 4 hours. They apparently have to modify the internal structure of the door in order to fit the new sensor. That concerns me a little bit...

other tC's produced after feb 08 2006, will just need the sensors.. since Toyota already pre-drilled the holes for the new sensors at the factory.. (According to the filing at the links provided)
Any tC produced since july of 2005, have had urethane pads in the door, to cushion the blows of slamming the door.. according to this filing at this link, from Toyota to NHTSA (Nat'l Hwy Transportation Safety Admin).. It gives a history of what has been going on and the explanation from Toyota to NHTSA. http://199.79.180.163/prepos/files/A...6V408-5363.pdf
The rest of the information, including what the orders are from Toyota to its dealers/technicians of how to fix this problem.. Such as the procedure, and the production dates breakdown.. and a lot more.. is at this link here..

Hope that help everyone.. Finally some information!!
ok quick question, i just dropped off my car their earlier today and they said that it wasn't going to be ready until tomorrow. so they gave me a rental car and all that bull. but i have an CAI and DC headers in it. doesn't that void my warrenty? and they said that i have a :CEL: and i was like ya i know... so their going to check that out to. but do you think their going to charge me for anything? i'm worried...
CEL is probably from the CAI, the map sensor might have not been put in properly. Or the headers, the oxygen sensor might have a problem.. They might charge ya to fix that, since it's not something Scion/Toyota covered under their warranty. Just have to wait and see what happens.
But let us know how your recall went.. how the work was, if the door rattles after they put it back together, etc..

well ya they just gave me the rental cause they said it was covered under the warrenty. its some chevy van! lol, i'm taking advantage of the 6 cylinders. but i went back today and they didn't even have the parts in yet! they said i would have to come back tomorrow. but they said the CEL was from my header, its only detecting one cylinder and not the other four but its not affecting anything though.
