Default 2009 tc headlight upgrade

hi all,

i'm looking to perform the first project upgrade on my stock, 2009 tc; a hid front lighting conversion.

my car is equipped with the optional fog lamps. i'd want to upgrade both the headlights and fog lamps so the they match in color.

i would like to hear suggestions from members that will provide the following end result;
>provide improved lighting over the factory head and fog lights
>offer blue-ish colored light during operation
>do not blind other drivers or cause me to be ticketed by the law
>are easy to install and result in a clean looking, factory installation

can all of these goals be accomplished from a vendor of aftermarket hid's? i've read some discouraging comments that many replacement kits fail to aim the outgoing light.

from the light kits i've seen, i like the colors emitted in the 6000-8000 kelvin range, my preference for 8000k. i'd like to hear feedback though from users of these products.

i'd also appreciate someone explaining the difference(s) between hid and xenon lights, which seem to be interchanged allot.

any other suggestions, potential problems or feedback for this project would be appreciated.

~mark

If you have an 09 tC then that means you have projector headlights on your car. HIDs will be a great upgrade for your headlight, the light output will be better and brighter. I wouldn't worry about blinding other drivers because you can always aim your headlights down. For the foglight I wouldn't put HIDs in them cause they can cause alot of glare to other drivers and you can't aim the foglights. The HIDs kits are really easy to install. It would take like 10 mins. I would go with the 6000k because its offers a nice blue tint and you'll see better in the rain than the 8000k. Thats just my 2 cents.

Just put HIDs into the headlights, first, you will need to do the cutoff mod on the headlights which is super easy to do. I just push down a metal plate inside hte projectors to get rid of the squirrel spotters.

any vendor recommendations? which vendors offer the best kits (best hardware, lights and instructions)? are there any comparisons tests between vendors?

hidextra.com.
$58 shipped or something like that. I as well as two of my friends have them and none of us have had any complains.

Hey i'm about to do the same upgrade, but i'm a little confused with ordering. In the owners manual for my tc it says that the low headlight beam is a 9005 bulb type b and it says the type b bulb is an h11. Now when I look on ddmtuning's website they have an hid kit for a 9005 bulb and one for h11's. Which would be the correct kit to order in this instance? btw mines a 2010 model so it has the projector housing if that' helps with the question. Link below is the site i'm ordering from.

If you want blueish go with the 6000k, I have a 6K kit and i love it, the 8000k will be give off a much more blue color but not as much light is emitted and you are more likely to get a ticket for it.

the highbeam is a 9005 and the lowbeam is a H11

so you need to order an H11 kit

I've had 8000k HID's and have never been stop / ticketed for them. They aren't that bad when you have projector head lights... Seems to omit quite a bit of light as well imo.

6000k is more of a white color IMO. I'd Personally Go with the 8000k.

The amount of failure that has been recommended here is utterly disturbing.

hi there,

can you please answer a few questions for me?

1. '...Just put HIDs into the headlights,...
>are there any instructions with photos which describe what you have explained to me here? do i just plug them in?

2. '...I just push down a metal plate inside hte projectors to get rid of the squirrel spotters....'
> i have no idea what you are trying to explain to me here cause i'm way noobish. can you please explain and direct me to some photos?

btw, i did the search on both of these questions and wasn't able to get any good answers.

also, are there any options for me to give my 09 tc housing projectors the hailo effect, or will the hid kits provide this result?

thanks,
~mark

Can you do this with the headlights already on the car? I forgot to do that to mine and now am trying to figure out how to do it.
