I just called VRD and aasked about the 3rd brake light. I guess there trying to make it so the can sell to dealerships and etc...

In about a month or 2 they will start selling the brake light with all different colors and also smoked. I asked about how much and the person said it would cost around the same price a dealer would sell the 3rd brake light for.. So I'm guessing 140 around. They are going to call me when they start shipping.

Just an FYI if anyone cares.

i'm sure VRD is going to push to sell at dealerships.. they always seem to.

fyi... clearcorners have been doing TBL's too... however the price tag for them is the typical.. OMG WTF WOW..

i'm still wondering why VRD did all those closeup shots for the ad they made... *shrugs*...

but... counting the number of leds.... it's still 18 like the design i came up with.

LED_Headz FTW! lmao, i see VRD as a good option for those who wants red/smoke lenses. But im pretty sure smoked lenses is illegal.

Regarding the spacing of the 18 LED's I think they probably widened the spacing a bit compared to stock. On the stock lights, the spacing is every 1" for 18 lights but that creates a slight gap at the very ends. Based on the pix (why are they of such crappy quality?) from VRD, I'm guessing they went with 1.125" spacing.

VRD's main legal hurdle will be getting it tested and approved by DOT. I think all aftermarket lighting, in order to be "legally" sold has to meet light output requirements equivalent to stock (or something like that).

We never did that because no one's a lawyer and no one here wants to shepherd anything through lengthy, complicated, expensive, and documentation-heavy governement testing. Presumably, VRD has both test engineers, gov't DOT contacts, and lawyers.
