hello my moonroof shattered the other night and i was wondering if anybody ever replaced the moonroof on their tc. Ive been asking local glass replacement shops and they said that they would have to order the moonroof from toyota which is 400 for the part alone then they would charge me for install...so i bought a used moonroof on ebay for 60 and i plan to replace it myself if i could get any more info about how it install it. I would appreciate any help. thanks!

 

ok so u say moonroof that makes me assume your talking about the spec tc roof which doesnt open? thats easy to replace just take the headliner off and there is about 12 bolts holding it in place its a easy swap.

 

moonroof means the roof is made out of glass. every tc has a moonroof. and the install might be a little hard. it's been awhile since i have had my headliner off. i can't remember what the actual glass is attached to..

 

I believe moonroof denotes that it's able to be opened. For example, the Land Rover Discovery has multiple rear sunroofs and they don't open.

 

Yeah i have the glass coming in the mail soon. i just need to take off the headliner...is this an easy task to do? any steps on what to do first?

 

i have a spec tc it came with a solid glass roof "moonroof" it doesnt open or have motors or pulleys i bought the sunroof from a 06 tc and installed it in my spec with 0 problems im just making sure he is replacing 1 of the 3 glasses on the sunroof or the ENTIRE roof. if its just 1 of the 3 is broken which one broke?

 

From the front of the car to the hatch...it goes sunroof, moonroof, then the glass on the hatch. The moonroof broke...the one that doesnt do nothing.

 

Oh my, is this one of those threads where it takes 48 hours just to find out what part the dude is talking about?? And then 10 people keep asking "what part are talking about?"
J.C. no wonder the search functions doesn't work worth a ____. I search for somethings and it always ends up being an empty, meaningless, unanswered thread that wastes space like the post I am posting now.
