Hey, I added the Viniati spoiler and now the struts are too weak to puch the hatch open. It will stay open, but I have to left it all the way up. When you buy the factor pedestal spoiler, does it come with new struts? Anyone know any other good ideas? thanks, BrianH

 

I believe it is the same with any lbs on the trunk. Scion only made the struts strong enough to lift that factory lip. I have seen the same action you are describing with the ped spoiler also.

You can always beef them up,by getting bigger ones.

 

I believe the pedestal spoiler comes with stronger struts.

 

yeah the pedestal one comes with new struts... I bet mcgeorge or trdsparks can rustle some up for ya...

I seen one of the guys have this issue this weekend with the Kaminari Wing. I havent had any issues with mine staying up and I am using the Viniati wing on mine. (knock on wood) Hope it stays that way..

 

hate to ruin the moment but the pedestal spoiler DO NOT come with any new struts. I got it and i got jack. Someone told me i can get those heavy duty struts for about 200 from dealer tho, which is a rip off.

 

The pedestal spoiler does come with new struts. They are tucked neatly away in a fold of the box. I just put my spoiler on last week. Also my dealership owns 2 scion dealers and I asked the one if they all come with them, the answer of course was yes.

 

^^yup yup... it's in the box tucked away... if you had the spoiler installed by the dealer.. they may have overlooked it.. or didn't bother with it.

considering you can buy the ped. spoiler for a little over $200 at trdsparks... i doubt the struts cost that much... try contacting josh at trdsparks... he might be able to get you those struts at a reasonable price.

 

So if you buy the pedestal spoiler yourself from trdsparks.com or mcgeorgeparts, you'll get those new struts in the package?

just checked my box and no luck, i bought mine from mcgeorgeparts and dont got it. Guess i'll contact josh for more info.

 

well.. they are kinda hidden in the box.. it's weird if it didn't have them in there... but yeah... best bet is to contact josh... or even mcgeorgeparts and tell them "hey!! i'm missing my struts"

btw... when you ordered from mcgeorgeparts... does that mean you installed the spoiler yourself?

 

First of all, I installed it from an auto shop, second of all, does everyone who got their spoiler online got their struts too??? B/c I'm seriosly missing those!! Can someon pls verify this so I can contact Josh for more info. I've contacted Ken from Mcgerxxx site and he said I can get them for about 38 dollars.
