Default Anybody having problems with the spoiler lip?

About a month ago I noticed that around the edges the glue, or tape, or whatever it is they use was starting to "leak" out. I took it in and they ended up ordering a whole new lip and slapping that on. Well while washing my car today I noticed that it's starting to happen again.

I'll be taking it in next weekend for some other problems that have been going on (so far I've had really bad luck with this car) but I'm just wondering if anybody else has been having the same issue.

I am having the same problem. At first just the driver side end of the spoiler was sticking up...I could see the glue but couldnt get my finger in enough to touch (just giving you an idea of how high the spoiler raised up) but now it has spread all the way to the other side. Appearantly there is a strip of glue on each side and all the way accross the from side to side. All of that glue has become unstuck for me....Im glad its bolted on.

Are you talking about the foam padding between the spoiler and the deck? Last time I washed mine I noticed that the foam is sticking out from behind my lip spoiler about a quarter of an inch.... evenly on both sides of the car.

I dont think its just foam. I think its some sort of glue because if I press down on it it will stick then pop back up.

i had the same exact problem. it is sticky tape, not foam. it got loose and water was able to flow under the spoiler and drip down my trunk, which just made the tape that was still sticky less sticky. i had new tape put on as well as adhesive glue stuff to keep it on. it hasn't moved yet and its been like that for a few months now and it's rained a lot. i'd suggest using adhesive to keep it on the car.

I am having the same problem. As a matter of fact i'm taking it in tommorrow for the second time for a new spoiler. As I understand the instalation procees it is screwed down as well as 3m taped so I dont know why it keeps comming up. But mine keeps happening on the same side...passenger. This time I will insist on watching the process...I let you know unless you find out first then tell me.

Use rtv clear silicone. to protect the double sided tape from getting wet and unstuck.

I had my rear lip spoiler replaced yesterday AND inspected it when the old one came off. The best thing I could determine was that the guy who put it on originally touched the 3m tape, got it dirty, and split it then reapplied it. Also he probably washed the car after the instalation compounding the problem.
**NOTE** These spoilers are NOT put on by the factory but rather at either the port of entry or the dealership.
Guess I got the guy who was doing mine on a Fri. afternoon.
BTW there are 2 screws with rubber gaskets (inner) and 2 plastic male snaps that fit into female counterpart with rubber gaskets (outer) and 3m tape around the entire edge. If put on correctly they should be water tight and very difficult to remove.

I noticed a little bit sticking out the other day in the passenger side of the spoiler. I will see if it get's worse because you cant really tell unless you get really close. If it get's worse i will take it in.

Yeah there're ok; they had to work to get the old one off. It was only a little loose on one side. But hey I paid good $ for the car so I wanted it fixed. NOW if it happens again...they will put a whole newhatch back on WITHOUT a spoiler or else!

When the dealer installed mine, it was already sticking up on the passenger side. I was really ____ed. It took them a month to order me a new one and they installed it right this time...I hope. Its been perfect but Ive only had it for 3 weeks now.

Well they said they would call me when it came in. I called them after 2 weeks and they gave me some bs. After another 2 weeks I called again and they were like" oh yeah it just came in" What can I say...dealers just suck.

I'm going to take some pictures of my spoiler in the morning to see if what happened to yours is similar to how mine looks now.

Yeah this aint rocket science...I applied the dealer carbon fiber appliques myself and they are on to stay. It's just sloppy work by people who dont care. Thats why this time I stood over them and watched their work. I also threatened that if I had to bring it in one more time I would charge them for my time at my overtime rate of pay which is $30 an hour, with a 2 hour minimum. I have done this with every one from my doctor to cingular wireless when they make me wait and it works like a charm. A lawyers letter (friend of mine) to the ones that are more stubborn usually is all I've ever had to do.
