i did the same. (with permission of course)
i went the cheap route and made my life easier by drilling holes and stuffing 5mm leds in there.... it fits perfectly...

ohh and i forgot to aim them.. so now i have faux "turning lights"

no resistors used. running for months... doing good. got lots of compliments. and a typical scenario i get alot

person: "uhmm.. you left your lights on... your fogs?"
me: "uh huh... oops... ehh... oh well..."
person: "battery? aren't you worried?"
me: "uhm... no.. they're leds.."
person: "still... not worried?"
me: "ehh... i've forgotten to turn them off overnight many times.. i don't care.. they're just there for looks... doesn't use barely any power"

 

funny scenario, i get the same... or when people pass, the are in a trance w/ them... lol..

 

it's like... uh... wtf... what are those? i didn't see them there before..
