Black grill on my tC.
I thought I'd throw these up because I haven't seen anyone set up their grill like this, although I'm sure there has been quite a few who have. Some people may think the billet grills look mini truck style but I think it looks fairly clean. Just had the grill powder coated black and had the chrome trim from the original grill painted black at the local body shop. Let me know what you think...

I actually cut the OEM grille out, and mounted the billet in it's place. (bottom grille is also billet, but no cutting of the OEM was required) No powdercoat for me, though. Just good old fashioned low-gloss black.
Moving the emblem up front has crossed my mind. When I debadge I'll definitely slap on the front to see if I like it.
Dr Isotope, I like how your grill looks. How did you set it up like that? I hate the fact that mine just hangs on the OEM grill.

Lots and lots of cutting. For the upper grille, I cut the honeycomb out completely, then had to cut the billet down to fit inside the opening, then structural epoxy the parts together. Then sand, prime, paint.
looks good, and would look 10x better without the OEM grill behind it.
you should atleast take the scion badge off the OEM grill, or paint it black so it dont stick out soo much

For me, getting rid of the chrome trim was a big part of the reason I did the grille at all. Aside from the inner door handles, we have no other chrome. I personally feel that the nose on the IIP looks much better with the chrome obscured.
