what would i need to paint the silver boarder around the front top grill and the emblem black? What would i need to do to prepare for this.

 

take the grill out. take the trim peice off and take the emblem off. sand the trim and primer then paint, and maybe add a clear coat

You need some good paint.... Krylon Fusion is good for plastic and you need to wet sand the area prior to laying down the first coat to help it stick... take your time, lay down thin coat after thin coat and then lay a couple clear on after your done....

Sanding is not required. Start by cleaning everything well with soapy water. Apply a few coats of duplicolor adhesion promoter and then duplicolor auto paint of your choice. Follow up with a few coats of duplicolor clear coat and you will have this:
