To have someone fit and install and paint a kit...$800 is pretty reasonable

Ummmm that can't be right at all. I think the labor is booked as probably 2 hours at the MOST. In fact scion.com has the installed price as $995.

Its pretty easy to install yourself, if you're not scared of cutting holes in your front bumper

If you are talking about the OEM ground effects, I'm pretty sure the 969 price tag includes install

BAD INFORMATION PEOPLE...

If bought at the time of sale.... that's the price on Scion.com.

I bought mine at the dealer parts counter for much cheaper, but the install is a rip off to put this on if you don't buy it at time of sale. My dealer wanted 1400 for parts and install.

DO IT YOURSELF.

The online instructions at sparkstoyotas TRD section steps you through the whole process and it's really easy. Maybe 3 hours for an amature to do... you need a socket set/a screwdriver/a drill/ and a sawsall.

yep...i called the dealer and the dealer said the price to purchase the body kit was 969 that is colored already (since its from scion) or i could buy it from mcgeorgeparts.com for 850 or something like that, and labor just to add it on from the service department is 850...i personally would rather do it myself hopefully i dont mess it up

not questioning you at all, but I'm just wondering if you heard everythign right. I went to the Toyota dealer around here and, myself being curious about the body kit, asked about the price, he said I could get it for 999 installed or 850 if I wanted to put it on myself. Not saying thats the case with you, but thats what I found about my situation.

i'm sure i heard everything right, they said it was 850 alone for the labor, 969 for the part..maybe i'll double check with another dealer but thats what one of the dealerships had said

ok. mr pain, ignore all the posts above mine, and just listen to me.

the body kit comes in at 1000 painted. installation should NOT cost more than $250 from the dealership. i recommed you to take it to your local body shop and get it installed for $150.

i had my oem kit installed for $150, if you paid more, you got screwed in the butt.
its not that easy, the labor includes drilling holes (so they have to take out you front and rear bumper etc) - as opposed to just sticking it on.

No way a dealer would do this for sub 1000. The parts alone are like around 800 and change for dealer cost.

The dealer will charge at least 300 for the labor.... Just based on Service Hour Time

the body kit comes way cheaper than 1000, I got mine for less than 900 from the dealer...in BSP

and I installed it myself NO PROBLEM in about 3 hours... you have to cut holes in your front and rear bumpers and take them off, but there are lines where you have to cut already there, so It's like coloring.... with a sawsall.

A body shop with cheap labor can do the install for around what he said, but they'll probably bid it at at least 2 hours....

The instructions are really easy.

Call another dealer in a different city that's close by.
Then call a body shop. u may be able to get a body kit from a aftermarket company and have it installed less than that.

what Somnambulated said is right. scion is suppose to have a strict policy on their price and costs. in fact it's suppose to be uniform throughout the country. if one particular dealership is charging more than they are suppose to, hq should be notified and their license to sell scions will be reviewed.

their license to sell scions will not be removed...they get warned and some of their allocated cars get cut back, if second offense occurs than they MAY not be able to sell.....
if the price they post for acc's does not match what they say it is, then we have issues, but before anything gets taken away, usually the Scion Rep. will come out and find out why....

Read people Read

Scion charges for the parts... which dealer cost is around 700-800 , then charges for the labor to install them HOWEVER THEY WISH

There is a HUGE difference between purchasing the accesory when the car is purchased and purchasing after purchase of the car.

I hammered this out with the dealer when I bought mine and wanted them to install (ended up doing for the same reason, they wanted 500 to install). They charge retail on the part and what they feel is appropriate for labor, which they could charge 3-4 hours for.
