cant install my new kaminari cf hood... pls HELP ASAP!!!!
 

i cant believe this.. today is my birthday and i got a kaminari cf hood from my family, wife, best friend etc.... but i cant install it:

the passenger side fender is in the way.. i tried to bend everything but no success:(((

even if i close it then it wont shut perfectly......... it seems like that thing is not long enough of something.. ARGHH.. im gonna take off the hood now to see what can i do.. until then pls reply .. help as much as u can.. im going crazy right now... the paint on the edge of the fender is chipped off already..

U just have to adjust the hood... leave the bolts on the latchs loose and adjust it. Its usually better to do with 2 people

I say you leave it to the pros :silly:

i did.. loosen the bolts.. and push the hood up and re tight it.. wont work... now im trying to bend that bracket which will hold the hood but i cant bend it...

Any pics? There isnt really alot of adjustment on the hood it is what it is basically. How is the alignment compared to the other fender? if its fine try moving the passenger fender out alittle.

Hmmm, i was thinking about getting the Kaminari CF Hood, and you say the only problem is the passenger side fender?

is the hood to big, doesnt sit right, what exactly is the problem?

so... the latch is not long enough.. wont close even if i sit on the hood.................. so im gonna put 2 washer to every screw maybe it would help.. i ____ed up the fender.. tried to bend it with a plyer.. now im gonna have to take it to the bodyshop because that edge is wavy :((((( still ____ty and yeah. i have to move the whole damn hood to the driver sood.. im gonna check back soon

Are you sure its authentic Kaminari?
If it is just get it exchanged.

i get mine wednesday, hopefully i dont have any issues :nails: oh its authentic kaminari btw.

Call Kaminari. I find this very odd, they have the best fitment out of any company I have ever come across. I installed mine myself without help and it fit dead on with 0 adjustment.

Mine went on in like five minutes.I love it.Good luck with yours. :nails: :nails:

Hey did anyone have to adjust their latch location on install.......on my buddies SEIBON he had to move his latch to fit.......other than that it was perfect.

ok.. so...

i had to put some washers between the latch and the hood because i couldnt close the hood.. i was sitting on it but nothing...

so this is how it is:

---- hood
O 1. washer
O 2. washer
____ latch
__|
o another washer
|| screw
--


AND i still need to force it to close it right!!!

now.. about the pics... as u can see the whole thing should move to the driver side...
i have a big gap on the driver side and the other side is TIIIIIGHT!!

im pretty sure it is authentic kami hood!

i got all the kaminari flyers and a sticker inside.. etc..

tomorrow i will try to bend both "elbow lever" (???) to the driver side....



oh and.. if i try to open it.. : i cant! unless i push down that bented fender part and then open the hood... :(

You should give them a call, I have never done business with them, but before you screw up the hood or your car I'd ask them to send you a new one!

i dont think its the kaminari hood.. it must be y car.. or.. who knows.. i have no idea.. i never heard any bad word about kami hood.. so it must be my car...

I was just thinking, could it be the arms??? The hood arms?!?!? Maybe they are bent towards the driver side

If thats the case, bend them towards the driver side...

i agree.. if your hood was working fine before you put on the CF hood, dont go bending the brackets to accommodate the CF hood. Try getting intouch with Kaminari or whom ever you ordered it from.

I wont be at the meets anymore for a bit over a year starting this week, but take it to the meet. Im sure someone should be able to give you some info on it.

thats what im thinking to bent those arms towards the passender side.. i will try it tomorrow.. i hope it will work.. but i dont know why the latch is that poop????!?!?! the hood is much tighter.. i should put a third "layer of washers between the latch and the hood...

im starting automotive technitian school tomorrow.. and its mon - thurs from 530 to 11 for 14months... so no meets for me for over a year starting this week.

hmmm i would call the company you got it from if its Kaminari itself I would call them before you bend anything.. specially your car or the product your purchased... has the car ever been wrecked even slightly up front by chance?

That was my original thoughts, maybe a crash or something. How about the original hood, did it fit perfectly? Or was there a gap as well.

definitely not the hood. I just got mine and the fitment is insanely perfect!!!!!

you can adjust the hood in all directions with the bolts that
screw into it from the hinges, loosen, move, tighten, repeat,
until its straight..
as far as the latching issue..?
I'ds have to see it, you can also (once you get it open)
adjust the latch assemblt itself, in all directions, by
loosening its mounting bolts to the car, and adjusting from there..

yeah i talked to kaminari just now.. i told them about the latch and what i did they said its okay.. and i told them my fitment problem and they told me to shift the hood to the driver side.. try to bend the arms but not too much or just try to make the holes larger ad adjust the whole thing.. i will see... i will take the car to the body shop i wanna know how much would they charge me for this. it shouldnt be expensive but i want PERFECT fitment.. btw the stock hood fit good..... and yeah.. it looks ubersexy!

hey try removing the bumper stops i had to with my vented siebon hood cus i had the same problem mine wouldnt shut remove thos and see what happens

i had my body shop install mine, i think you need to fine tune it
