Default Car cover for tC

I've seen some car covers for around $100 for the tC, which promise that they have uv protection, are breathable and soft fabric (non scratching).

I sometimes have to park next to a sprinkler where hard water marks will be an issue. Also now that it's hurricane season I was thinking a cover might help against small debris. I suppose there'd be a bigger risk of the cover flying off though.

With the concerns about easily scratched paint, would a cover be a bad idea? It makes no sense to do more damage to the finish with a cover than it's meant to be protecting.

Thanks!

I've had the factory Scion cover on my old XB and on my TC now. You won't have to worry about scratches as long as your car is clean. It is water proof and breathable. I love it.

Where I live there's a lot of tree crap (sap, pollen, leaves, sticks, needles, twigs, etc) that fall and stick to my car. I had debated whether to get the factory Scion tC car cover, but it was definitely out of my price range. I found a decent one at a walmart for about $40, brand is called Premier and is size 3 for the tC. Keeps UV rays out and is breatheable, as well as semi-waterproof. It works well for me and even comes with loops so you could lock it on your car if you don't want it to get stolen or blown away. But there is the concern about scratching your car. Of course, I would've preferred the factory cover but this one gets the job done. ^_^

I'm not understanding this statement. Why does the car have to be clean to prevent scatches?

I need a cover to defend against the most dangerous threat. The Parking Authority. If i leave it on, meter maids can't pull it off and give me a ticket after 2 hours.

I doubt it. You're not supposed to cover your plates or stickers , if the car is parked on a public road. It's against the law. My mother was a traffic agent. She told me this.
