Default car was hit monday

So I guess it was bound to happen. On my way into work on Monday I got rear ended. There was traffic on the highway and there was an abrupt stop. I immediately thought to myself "hmmm, I wonder if the guy behind me will be able to stop", and as I looked up I saw him coming up on me way too fast.

Well the good news is my car didn't jump forward enough to hit the car in front of me, but obviously my poor baby took a little damage.

It's really not that bad, but I was wondering in terms of the process, what is the next step. I had the police show up and filled out a summary (the report will be done in a few weeks I was told). After talking with people at work they said I shouldn't bother to tell my insurance since it wasn't my fault at all. Should I expect a call from his insurance or do I need to seek them out? I have a copy of his insurance card. I've never really been in an accident before, so forgive me for not knowing the next step.

Call their insurance and file a claim that you were hit by them, tell them you have a police report, and then everything should get fixed, good luck.

Default Notify Insurence company

I would not contact the other drivers insurence company yourself. Call your insurance company ASAP and report the accident. Give them all the information you have (other drivers name, insurance info, policy report number, etc).

Let your insurance company handle this. They will have you go get a quote and you will not have to wait to get your car repaired.

Don' t wait to report this.
