Default CARBON FIBER

Yo,

I was really curious on carbon fiber stuff for the tC, and i tried looking up carbon fiber parts for the tC and i've only found carbon fiber hoods, Carbon fiber trunks and carbon fiber handle for the trunk. If there is anymore please put it down along with the website.

THANKS

there might be CF side mirrors, too. But i think blackonblack summed it all up.

frisk, do you plan on doin as much CF as possible?

I'd be curious to see the weight difference if you had every CF part for the tC.

honestly i would say about 100lbs MAX

i say that beause alot of the c/f accessories are not really reductions, they are add ons.. like the lip kit, it was never their, so your adding weight

same with alot of other mods

imho, the only c/f that will really save weight are the hatch and hood

AND PLEASE, if you get any type of c/f make sure to clear it so it wont turn yellow

One consideration in weight is whether the part is true carbon fiber or fiberglass overlaid with carbon fiber, as some parts are. Cheaper CF hoods are actually a fiberglass skeleton overlaid with CF, and are not as light.

ya, its mostly japanese based company's that make ALL c/f hoods..

since our cars are USDM we dont have that market, so we are screwed..

but the prices for a full c/f hood range from 1k up

Yep, the true CF parts are higher. I know you can order true CF hoods for the 350z (just happened upon them one day, I dont have a 350) for a little over $1000, and I think you can get them for a few hondas for a little over $500, but that is because they have made so many of them I am sure. I would guess if someone came out with it for the tC it would be a little over $1000 for sure. But very light

yes sir.. civic hoods can be bought for cheap because they have the mold made, they sell numerous amounts, and that is key right their, QUANITY lowers the price

however you must also look at the amount of c/f used to produce the hood, a Z or S2K's hood will be a hell of alot more than say a yaris or civic

on top of that, there is a worldwide shortage of cf right now. i would expect that a good number of those products listed will never see the light of day.... or they will be a brief production run and then discontinued. the market for cf parts, especially expensive ones, isn't very big.

for example: the cf roof. how many people are REALLY going to do that? that's a specialized thing that a tiny percentage of people would not only want, but then pony up the dollars to actually do.

lots of people DREAM about doing stuff to their cars. few ever have the guts or money to actually DO it. (which is true for most people on SL)

its true about the shortage, because of dumb A$$ leading this nation, but larger comapines such as erebuni and kaminari can get their hands on c/f while smaller companies find it hard becuase they usually go through some sort of middle man.

that is why coi at motor-fx is having such a hard time, he owns a small business that hasnt gotten many ties yet.

i heard that the wings of the new boeing 787 dreamliner are also being made out of cf. that's also using a big chunk of what's out there.

yah, it sucks for coi.
