We have the opportunity to pick up some CF fenders (when the get in stock of course) for the BSP tC. We are waiting on the AIT vented CF hood (which we pre-ordered).
Here is what I envision.
AIT vented CF hood
CF fenders
RacingSolutions CF front lip
(Keep in mind, this is for a Black Sand Pearl tC)
Her vision is
AIT vented CF hood
OEM fenders
RacingSolutions CF front lip
I am trying to come to a happy medium here, and say ok, if you don't like the way the CF fenders look then we can just paint them BSP and call it a day. BUT I would like to leave a pin stripe/design somewhere in the fender that is NOT painted, so you can still tell that they are CF. But I can't even get that little happy medium. She screaming she don't want them at all!
What are you guys/gals thoughts on this. I personally think to leave all the CF UN-Painted. I think it would look aggressive as hell.

Don't waste the $$ if you're just going to paint them. You won't save much weight, if any. I know my CF fenders and lips are heavier than the OEM pieces they replaced. Hoods and hatches are a little different, but when you're just replacing a piece of stamped sheetmetal that has no structural rigidity, it's hard to get much lighter than that.
If I was going to paint the CF, I'd try to get some custom work done where it looks like the paint is peeling off from hi speeds and it is revealing the CF beneath.

Ok, here's my problem with this. I don't want CF fenders, CF hood, and a OEM bumper. I just don't think it would go well together. We have gotten into an arguement about this and it needs to be settled, so this was the solution....lol please help us!

^^^Just to reiterate for everyone, it's not just a plain OEM front bumper. We are talking about having the RacingSolutions CF front lip on there too. This is also on a Black Sand Pearl tC.
you're lucky you get any cf... my wife thinks it looks (from a distance) like you got in a wreck and never got your replacement hood painted (cause its black)... lol.
I say you can never have enough cf (especially on a black car).

The issue should be balance.
Consider, a black shirt, a black shirt with grey stripes, and a shirt that's 2/3 black and 1/3 grey on the bottom. The all black shirt looks pretty good, the one with grey stripes looks pretty good, but when you have all the grey in the bottom, it'll look kind of weird.
If you look at Taek's car, you should see that the car is pretty ricey with some stickers every now and again. However, the car is stripped clean of everything. The trunk is shaved of all emblems and and lights and anything that creates a line. The result is a very plain looking trunk. To offset this plainess, there are stickers placed in some pretty interesting locations across the trunk.
I personally like this because there is the contrast between plain and what most consider rice (as in bold and obnoxiously loud rice decoration.) Also, all the stickers are the same color which doesn't throw off the balance. I don't know if he intended it to be that way but the rear of the car works together very well by contrasting two things.
Oh yea, forgot to mention, the stickers are grey in color - pretty similar to a "dark white" which matches the monochrome colors, black and white.
You're working with a black car. CF is almost a black color but is a little lighter. In my opinion, to have the CF moderately distributed across the car - never overwhelming one location with CF - will yield a very attractive car.
So my opinion on the fenders - if you're going to leave the other CF parts unpainted, the fenders should be unpainted too. The front lip, being CF, starts adding color to the bottom portion of the car which needs to be balanced with the top (the hood.) If you'd just leave the front lip alone then the CF hood will be fine just there by itself to throw a little balance off towards the front which is where the balance should be on a car (having the majority of decorations in the front lends to the err.. 'illusion' of movement or transition which cars do both.) Like I said, by throwing some CF on the bottom, there needs to be top and bottom balancing too. While you're at it, I think you'd need a CF trunk to complete the look.
Concerning a non CF front bumper - a bumper in CF would overwhelm the CF look and THEN it might look bad. I think it'd look better with some BSP to break up the CF in the front.
It's a lot like linguistics. The best orators have always used balance and precision in their words. It's usually a matter of parallelism more than anything else.
Speaking of which, are you going to have some sort of wing to even up that AIT hood? This wing, if it's going to sit on a CF trunk, shouldn't be CF I think.
Err.. well, that's my opinion.

Good thoughts. We are on the same page. I think the contrast of a BSP front bumper would help in breaking up the CF. I picture it flowing well, but only with the RS CF front lip. If it was just fenders and the hood, then it might be off with just the BSP bumper. To balance this off, I have thought about the rear. The option on the rear was going to be:
CF trunk and NO wing.
Or
CF wing, regular trunk, but to add a little flair to it, the CF rear hatch garnish that goes where the Scion emblem is.

I'm leaning on the second option. Just got to see what the g/f thinks.
lol kung pao samurai
thanks for referring me
and thanks the wonderful comments i guess
but i think CF fenders will look cool on contrasting colors
for exmaple, if you look at www.teamautoconcept.com ( go to members and look at jon's red s2000. ) jon has alot of CF fenders and lip and it looks good cuz it red
another color that looks good is white cuz of the panda effect, and
the green xB from endless projects. that later on shelby's dad bought to compete with. I'm pretty sure you guys konw the ralph lauren green xB on 15" works and carbon fiber fenders. that car looks good
so if you hvae a BSp, i think CF wont be very obvious. i can't say all black cars will look good with CF cu zi 've only seen a few black cars that looks good with CF but you can always try
post pics when you can !!

The only disappointing part is that despite all this CF, the Radar guns can still detect me...
