clear bra pics?

More questions.
I have a leather bra on my current car. And I know it affects the look of the paint after some time (whatever is covered vs. what's not). Naturally, because of sun and uneven car washes.
Does anyone know if the clear bra can affect paint color over time? Or is it fine because it is essentially...clear? I know it's mainly for chips and such but it would suck to have a two-colored hood 5-8 years down the road.
Has anyone had their clear bra on for a while and noticed any peeling or anything? I'm considering getting this when I get my Scion. Just curious...thanks.

The whole point is that since it is clear, it will let the paint fade evenly with the rest of the car. I think the one concern a real detailer might have is that since there is a horizontal seam across the hood and a vertical seam across the two front quarter panels, there is a chance that if you let dirt build up in there you could scratch things. But if you know how to wash your car this isn't a problem. In all honesty, everyone who cares about how their car looks should get one of these. Do it NOW not later, since the whole point is to keep the paint perfect - if you put one on over a bunch of rock chips, they're sure not going away.

Yeah, I really wish I'd got one for my Matrix when it was new. Now (2 1/2 years and 70k miles later) I literally have hundreds of paint chips in the hood and the entire front bumber and ground effects are turning white (the Matrix is IIP).

I have been considering getting this done, but the thing i worry about is...when the plastic gets scratched, chipped, etc, what is it going to look like? I can only imagine seeing my car with a bunch of weird looking plastic scratched holes in it. If it starts to do that, do you have to repaint? Or is this not even an issue? Warrantee on the clear bras?
Any input would be greatly appreciated

I think the whole point is that if the plastic starts looking scratched or damaged, you can remove it and get it reinstalled for a lot less than if it was your paint job that was scratched. I know I'd rather pay $300 to have new 3m put on than $800+ for the bumper or hood to be repainted.

First of all, the plastic is soft - it doesn't scratch or chip - well... it might scratch a little bit, but it's a clear product, so scratches don't show. It certainly doesn't chip. Most of these installations are warrantied for about 7 years. That's how long it's supposed to last. At that point, if you wanted, you could apply a little heat and peel the thing right off. You could put another one on, or you could just sell the 7 year old car.
If the plastic chipped, there would be no reason to use it. This stuff was developed by 3M to protect the leading edge of helicopter rotor blades - they hit lots of stuff going WAY faster than the front of your car. They use this stuff on NASCAR cars (hate the sport, but you've got to admit that they hit stuff faster than you do). Anyway, unless you're driving your car to work in a gravel quarry, you don't have to worry.

I just got my tC back today. The guy did a phenomonal job using the Madico product. A few days in the sun and it'll be 100%!!!
I cannot see the film unless I am standing on top of the car. It's great. I'll be sure to a full write up in a few weeks after having the product cure and totally bond to the car.
