Default Custom Homage Emblem

Finally Finished my Custom grille and Homage Emblem Project in Honor of one of the original TCs ... a Toyota Corona .

Total cost ... ... a little over 15 bucks

The hard part is finding the emblem.

after that, it's just a matter of finding some good mesh that is capable of molding into the shape that you want, but have high rigidity to avoid deforming

from there, it's just a matter of cutting it to acommodate the assorted fastening tabs on the bumper.

I opted to keep the OEM chrome trim for a cleaner look, so I ended up having to keep the stock grille as well and just overlayed the mesh above it. it wasn't my first choise, but it saved me a lot of headaches from fitment and fastening issues

then it's just sand/prime/spray

took me a couple of hours on a weekend ... it was a labor of love, but now I have a couple hundred extra bucks to blow on strippers.

It looks better than I thought it would. It kinda looks like it might match the grille opening better if you turned it upside down.

Really doesn't look that bad. Definitely an interesting choice.

Thanks for the compliments everyone, makes it all worthwhile.

The symbol actually says "TC", but it's from a 1970's Toyota Corona that I found spending its last days in a junkyard.

The Toyota Corona looked like it had a history as an Auto-X'er since it had an SCCA member sticker on the windshield. I thought it would be a fitting Homage to incorporate a part of it somehow into the new generation of Toyota, the current "TC"

Right now, I just have my modified Scion badge on the back (see avatar)

I found another Toyota Corona badge that I want to somehow use as the rear emblem.

I just need to found a round chrome backing for it to turn it into a domed badge

here's the other emblem

don't let the pic fool ya, it's actually a little bit smaller than the rear Scion badge, so I should be able to sit it in there, even with the oval backing around it
