does anybody know how to black out the chrome part of the oem grill and scion logo? how do you take that grill out without taking the bumper off?

 

open the hood, use a small phillips screwdriver and remove all of the screws holding in the grill.

 

the grill is still attached to the bumper though, how do you pop it off? i just dont wana break anything

Im probably going to redo it again with Krylon Fusion. I have heard great things about them, no sanding or prep needed with this stuff.


To remove your grills, just remove the screws and push the grill out, they are held in by tabs. It might feel like you are breaking it but after the first tab , you'll understand what i mean. just if it a good karate chop. same goes with the lower grill. all held in by tabs

Make sure you take 1 day for this because it takes longer to dry then to actually do all of the labor. good luck

the grill is still connected after you take off the screws, you will have to pull cause they have little taps that the factory pretty much melted on, it just takes some wiggiling and it will come off. ps. the bumper isn't hard to take off at all. That way when you do paint it you don't scratch the grille when trying to put it back in. IMO

 

gcxandy... did you paint both grilles black or just the logo? Clear both? looks good

use flat black bumper paint...

 

i just used black paint and cleared it. Alot of coats too.
