Default Door handles feels different between the two sides

I am rarely the passenger in my car, and today while I opened the passenger side door, something just feels different. I looked at it carefully when I got home, and noticed that on both of the doors, the handle pulls out "blank", very light and unattached, for a small distance, before it hits the "latch" or something, which would then require more force to be applied to pull it back more, and the door would open. This is normal.

However, I noticed that the distance where the doors pulls on "blank" is a little different. The passenger side is significantly more than the drivers side, and because of that, it made me feel that it's "more loose".

Is it like this for all tCs?

by the way, we're talking about ~3mm difference. You probably won't know until you try it.

by the way, only happens when both doors are locked. If both unlocked, the distance is about the same. I am starting to think if it's because the passengers tend to like to pull on it to try to get in when I only unlock my side because I press on the remolt too fast.

Anybody else willing to go check?

could be designed for the driver side to be a little more "sturdy" b/c its opened a lot more often. or maybe b/c the passenger is pulling on it when its still locked. i dunno

yeah, just tried it on my gf's camry, same thing, but I'm still a little amused by it. I'm a industrial engineer.... and I am very, very sensitive to these things. Again, it would be nice if more people are willing to check it out to see if it's common.
