Default Ebay carbon fiber rear emblem mod.(PICS COMPARED)

so the other day after spending too much money on fake vinyl cf for my rear emblem background and cheap looks, I was only able to find large sheets of expensive real cf, so I never picked up any, since all I needed was a ver small portion just for the rear emblem.

so I came across an ebay seller than sold 8x11 sheets of real carbon fiber that was pretty cheap.
So I took a gamble.

It arrived today but during the late afternoon, so I can really see how it looks in the sun.
I picked uo the .5 mm sheet and I like how its rigid, as opposed to vinyl that has bumps and bubbles over time.

So far so good. Looks of decent quality. the auction says its clear coated, but from the looks of it, its just some type of matte resin. I was happy to see that I could cut it with scissors. I wish I wouldve found this before I spent all that money and time looking for different styles of vinyl cf :/

the surface is smooth and not textured, but its real cf from what I can tell

some pics

Its too dark to mount it tonight, and I had to repaint my emblem because I chipped the emblem paint trying to take it off.

Im actually considering repainting the emblem metalic red to match the red out tbl and brake lights with the cf backing.

it was like $10 for the sheet and $10 for shipping.

$20 total.

I dont think its like oem, oem has an additional dome coating doesnt it?
this is just a flat rigid 8 x 11 sheet

^Yup the dash kit inserts are thicker. Is that the Hayame stuff? I've seen it around online, but wasn't sure how it'd match with other C/F products (hoods, b-pillars, dash kit, ect.).

Looks good. Leave the emblem dark. Flows better with your ride. Don't paint it red.

yea its hayame

here is the different cf emblems Ive used

ebay cf vinyl

I wasn't happy with it.

stopped off at autozone and got a roll of cf vinyl that looked slightly better

looked better than ebay cf vinyl, but started bubbling and peeling after a couple of weeks

and now the real cf sheet I found on ebay.

winner!
Im just glad I found a small enough sheet at a price that was reasonable. All the cf sheets Ive seen were bulk and expensive.

I wont be painting it red, I photoshopped a red emblem on my car and I didnt like the look.

not really my idea. TC owners have been doing this forever.
the reason I used cf, was to cover up some crscks in the paint when I debadged the scion emblem. Hides them very nicely and cheaper than a repaint, shaved, or new garnish.

feel free to mod yours. You can find the sheet, but typing "real carbon fiber sheet" in ebay search.

Maybe make "Scion" red and leave the rest of the emblem as is?

Yeah, that might not look bad. As long as red is one of your accent colors, you should be all good.
I have a paint pen also. (But in silver.) I'm just afraid to use it...

I just went to Kragens aand picked up a can of duplicolor metallic black body spray paint and spraypaint clear coat. the duplicolor isnt that great, Ive repainted it and repainted it over and over again. I learned the hard way that it is well advised to wait 30-40 mins per coat to get the gloss and durability. my first try came out matte because I didnt wait.

I repainted again for the new cf, and now its glossy and matches the body a lot better.

it matches close enough for me.

in regards to painting the scion red, I think Ill just keep it black. I think red would be too much.

I do have red accents however, red tails and red out full tbl.

I also plan on painting the calipers sometime in the future.
