Flat or Gloss Grille?
I sent my RS1 grill out to get powdercoated this dark gunmetal grey, along with 5-6 other metal peices off the tC. (emblems, rotor hats, 2 under the hood items, and 1 peice inside)..I wouldnt spray paint anything.. cough up the extra cash and get it coated, it looks way more pimp.
yeah, you definitely can't powdercoat plastic. The process involves conducting an electrical current through the painting surface (plastic is not a conductor), and it involves heat treatment at over 200 degrees celcius (would melt the plastic right away).
Oh, and for the poll, i would go flat black.

^ of the grill, not really. 95% of my pics are night shots which make it seem a different tone than it actually is.
edit: snapped this one yesterday at the car show

all i did was remove the top and bottom grill, sand, primer, and paint it ultra flat camoflauge black. i have another lower grill on the way so i can do the mod for the upper.

ah yeah forgot to mention, i didnt use any clearcoat thus why its really flat black. but like you said if you dont like it, a few coats of clearcoat should bling it out some. if its still not glossy enough then switch to gloss black and clearcoat as well
