anyone done it on a tC?

He means a hood that opens backwards with the hinge in the front instead of the back, not shocks. I can't really help you find them but just clarifying for you...GL sounds like a cool idea!

I think it might look odd, because the tC hood is so large.

Have you seen a Corvettes hood? Its not exactly small

 

Meh, this falls under the "sure it's different, but is it worth it?" category for me. Think of all the work (and subsequent headache) you would have to put in to get this to work.

Now a split hood that opens to the engine bay like a cabinet... :D

 

Yea and they are very large, but they hinge into the the front end. part of the hood disappears into the front end which makes it look good. As with the tC, the hood would droop over the front end, which, imho, would not look good.

 

I looks good on cars with long narrow hoods. The tC's hood is basically a square. It won't look good at all.

 

money is much better spent elsewhere

 

i was thinking of running up to a junkyard and get a pair of vette hinges or something and try and retro fit em.

Consider the front structure of the tC would not support the weight of the hood.

Corvettes are actually extremely roomy in the engine bay, lots of room.

And the front would support a hood if it was c/f

 

well I just meant it must be hard to reach a lot of areas because you can only work from the sides, but hey if its roomy then maybe it doesnt matter lol

 

What about a hood that operated like a garage door or sliding doors? How friggin' sweet would it be to just be like "oh hang on let me open my hood", hit a button, and have it retract into your engine bay?

Pretty sweet, I say.
