Default Functional fog lights?

Wassup everyone?

I bought my 09 FM tC last week, and i'm thinking of adding fog lights to them as my first mod. The problem is, I don't know which style lights I should get - the OEM grille type, or the VRD-style.

It pretty much boils down to this: which type more functional (as in, what would give me better visibility in fog/rain/snow/etc.)

Thanks a bunch!

VRD output blows, in terms of 'fog lights'. They're more like full time high beams. Which makes them pretty good, aside from the retarded glare. They help a lot with lighting up signs and things like that, rather than lighting up the road. I don't see any difference in road lighting when I have them on or off (compared to my projected 5000K HID low beams).

Never seen OEM.

Mine own, it's just that compared to my 5000k HIDs (projected), they just don't do anything for lighting up the ground. Here is a comparison shot I took a few months back. It was in a VRD glare thread. These shots were titled as the best VRD on/off comparison :D.

Directly in front of the car is not visible from the driver seat. Just past where the HID lighting starts is where you can start to see the ground.

I took this to show how retarded people are for putting HIDs in VRD fogs.

That's with the stock halogen bulbs. I'm actually very tempted to buy those cheap crappy Umnitza $50 HID/Ballasts for my fogs...

I have his bulbs, mixed with some rare, discontinued Oznium ballasts :D. I just can't justify spending another $120 or w/e it is right now on light bulbs lol. I want to finish this piece of crap and call it a day.

i have hids in the vrds, and i can see only a glimpse of it at nighttime. my low beam hids are more than enough, but hey, vrds still look good, and that's what i spent the money for.

i too have owned both, and i agree with tctctc, the oems has a cutoff"crappy one at that" but a cut off nonetheless, and i had Silverstars Ultra in them wich made them pretty good!

the VRDs on the other hand are much more scattered, but brighter, i think due to the fact that they dont have a precise glare shield

i ran both of these with retrofitted lights, so they are there for pure looks! lol

so i say VRD FTW
