I would see if you could get any witnesses, because even though he backed into you, it could end up being your word against his. The guy who hit me was apologetic when it happened, but later denied everything when the claim was filed. Fortunately there was a group of high schoolers who saw it and let me use them as witnesses.

Luckily, my brother, cousin, and a friend was there to witness it happen along with me so that should be good.

It has been my experience that you ALWAYS need to file a report. The insurance company will usually ask for the report number.
