Default Halo brand HID kit installation & review

I received my Halo brand HID kit today from Uneek who is selling this kit. The package was shipped extremely fast, and he's been awesome to deal with. Great communication, and very helpful with information. So anyways.. on with the kit.

The kit comes as packaged. I ordered a 6000K kit.

Inside, you find 2 boxes. I unpacked 1 of them to see the contents. You should have 1 HID bulb, 1 Ballast, 1 plastic mounting bracket + screws, 1 double sided tape, and some instructions. The instructions themselves were pretty crappy.. but it's ok. We don't really need them.

Start off by reading the instructions carefully, and then reading it again. (even if they are crappy.. i don't want to be responsible for something going wrong). Now take off your old halogen bulbs and set them aside. Then remove the casing from the new HID bulbs making sure NOT to touch the HID bulbs at all! Touching the bulbs will put grease on them which will make them burn out faster. Next insert the bulbs into each headlight and tighten it. It might be a bit difficult to tighten, so if need be, you can take the headlights off your car to do this step.

At this step, i would plug the braided cable from the HID bulb into the ballast before mounting the ballast. Once your ballast is mounted, it might be difficult to reach it later. Mount the ballast with the included double sided tape on the bar that sits just below and to the right of your passenger's side headlight. I didn't use the plastic mounting bracket at all.

Connect the 2 wires from the HID builb to the ballast.

Connect the 9006 HID power cable to your car's stock headlight power supply. (the picture is wrongly labeled as Ballast). For PASSENGER'S SIDE, CONNECT THE RED WIRE TO GREY WIRE, AND BLACK WIRE TO WHITE WIRE.

Now to mount the driver's side ballast. At this step, i would plug the braided cable from the HID bulb into the ballast before mounting the ballast. Once your ballast is mounted, it might be difficult to reach it later. Mount the ballast with the included double sided tape to the fender wall next to your stock air box. This position fits perfectly. Again, i did not use the bracket but used only the double sided tape.

Connect the 2 wires from the HID builb to the ballast.

Connect the 9006 HID power cable to your car's stock headlight power supply. (the picture is wrongly labeled as Ballast). For DRIVER'S SIDE, CONNECT THE RED WIRE TO RED WIRE, AND BLACK WIRE TO WHITE WIRE.

That's all there is to it. If you want to be extra safe, then you can buy a relay harness and add it to the system, but i decided i didn't need one. The new lights are FANTASTIC and makes a world of difference. I suggest readjusting your beam so that it doesn't point too high that it blinds people.

Thanks to Uneek for providing a great product at a great price.

yeah. i think it's a perfect color. just a VERY TINY kiss of blue which is what i preferred. I think 6000K is just right, while 6500K (like other kits) is a bit too blue for me.

Nice. I may just have to get me some of those. I prefer to have have a litle blue in them, but not to much.

doh! you totally beat me to this. I had ordered the relay, to be on the safe side, so I was waiting on that before getting the kit. Wow that was fast how quickly you managed to receive and install it. Well done Diesel!!

do these bulbs have a color shift after X amount of hours? if so, then 6000k will get a hint of blue eventually

also it was said that these ballast were dipped so they are somewhat water proof... so... does it look waterproofish?

GREAT DIY! I really like the semi-transparent dialog boxes. What program did you use?
