the instructions say you have to drill four holes. but I'm wondering if its necessary because its also held on by 3M double sided tape. If it'll stay on with only the tape and no drilling, I might have to get this spoiler....

If it would stay on with just the tape, the instructions wouldn't have you drill the holes.

You could try it with just the tape, but who knows how long it would stay on.

my uncle has a volvo s60r, he purchase the lip seperately and he installed it w/ just the 3M tape (Im assuming he followed the instructions). Its still there after about a year.

In my experience, the factory Volvo lip spoilers are made to attach only with the tape or adhesive (depending on application.) I stand by my assertion that there is a reason that Scion decided the lip needs screws as well as asdhesive.

No dont just slap that baby on with out drilling holes, you never know while driving in high speeds you'll start to loose you lip kit. Drill holes for it, its not that hard.

i wouldn't drill the holes....
the 3M tape will not come off for anything. the carbon fiber b-pillar appliques for the tC use the 3M tape and they aren't goin anywhere for a looooooong time.

The B-pillars don't move, the hatch does. It's quite possible that repeated opening and closing of the hatch could cause the lips to detach. Also, the lip is a little more substantial than the B-pillar covers.

the 3m tape will be fine just by itself. back in 99 i used 3m tape to install the side peices of my friend 3peice wing on his integ. that wing is still on today with no problems.

your wrong there. the b-pillars do move everytime you open and close your door. i think u open and close yer doors more than your hatch.

Well my lip spoiler was dealer installed and it lifted up on both sides. The tape was not enough to hold it down. You could press it down and it would hold for about 2 seconds and pop back up. I had them redo it and its been fine, but I dont think the tape is enough by itself....especially after what I went through

I wouldn't put it there with just the tape. If it comes off while driving and hits the vehicle behind you, might cause injury or death.

I'm still trying to find someone who'll tell me what it's supposed to cost.

My dealer's trying to rip me one, I think.
The accessory price list I got in the mail shows something like $385.
They charged me $514 (parts, labor, tax).

Did I get bent over? What do I do?
I've got the salesmen fighting with the parts/service guys.

if you paid for it when you bought the car, its only supposed to cost the accessory price. Anything more than that and they are screwing you. Is the spoiler part of your contract or did you get it done after the fact?
