Default hatch alignment

so, after the engineer came from japan to fix the infamous hatch rattle in my tc the hatch is now grossly misaligned. The reason for the rattle in my car was there were welds that were broken or no were no good. So he had to take apart the whole thing, reweld, had it repainted, blah blah blah. I got the car back and the rattle was gone, but there is a huge gap in the passenger side of the hatch i.e. you can push a sharpie through the gap and you can see the road from the inside as apposed to the drivers side where the gap is like 1/8 inch or so. So, when it started raining that sharpie thickness sized gap started leaking like a ****. I took it back in, they had it for a week and fixed the leak, but didn't fix the goddamn gap. The dealership said there's no adjustment for the trunk.....how in the world did it get like that? did the japanese toyota engineer weld it out of correct dimension? I can still push a sharpie through it and I can still see road, just no water. I am tired of taking my car in for the same thing over and over and over again. Does anyone know what I can do? Is there a way to align the trunk myself? I am about to call up corporate and complain to them cuz i have taken my car in for so many problems so many times. I have had the car since october 2005 and it has been in the shop for an estimate 85+ days of that time. Help?

bump, man that is despicable! I'd take it back again...now I'm afraid to get my hatch rattle fixed. Did they at least work for free?

I know. I have taken it back twice since the welding job. Still nothing. It really sucks, I am thinking of taking it to another dealership to do the work

I worked for Toyota doing body fit, fixing all those ugly gaps before they left the factory. The way to fix it is to basically bend the hatch back into place (which might have been the cause of the broken spot welds in the first place). I'm surprised to see you got it back in that kind of shape, because Toyota is pretty strict on their guidelines for the fit of all the body panels. If I were you I would definitely bring it back, because if force is applied in the wrong spot, or if you apply too much force pushing on it yourself, you will bust the glass for sure. I've done that on more than one vehicle it looks like they fixed the hatch, but didn't move the striker to compensate for the adjustments made. again, that's something i would have the dealer move.
