Exclamation Hatch area question (for CB install)

I'm installing a CB radio in my tC, and I'm working on trying to find an area to mount rhe antenna (preferably without drilling). I was contemplating using the threaded holes in the hatch area where those black "bumpers?" are..... I just wanted to know what they actually are and if removing one to use the threaded holes will cause me any problems?

You can see them in this picture (not my car), they are just above the tail lights.

i think you might wanna keep those. it keeps the hatch leveled when closed. like bump stops. how big is the antenna? dont they have double sided tape ones where you can stick to the inside of your window?

The antenna is 3ft. Yes, they do have antennas like that but their range is far below what I would like. There are also magnet mounts, but I was looking for a permenant install. I kind of figured they had something to do with keeping the hatch a certian way...I wonder if I can just "sandwich" the mount in between the "bump stop" and the fender. The reson I was hoping to use this spot is because not only are the holes already there, but they are nice threaded machine screws that are solidly mounted to the car which is what I would need so as to provide a strong base.

hmm. try it out anyways? if it doesnt work just find another place and screw that bump stop back in. im pretty sure those plastic pieces just keep the hatch at a certain height when you close it

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to see if I can use this spot for the mount and retain the bumper...if not it'll be a different spot.

if your looking for the best trunk mount for your car try K40 antennas they make one that would fit the hatch good and there are a few other trunk hatch mounts out on ebay that would work for you if you don't want to run a mag mount. i run a few trunk mounts and a mag mount for my ham radio's and 11 meter (cb radio) too.
