Default Hatch Scion Emblem Removal

Hey Guys,

Im in Boston right now, and Im not near my car, but Im planning a list of the things I need to do when I get back to NY

As far as the rear emblem is concerned, is it double stick taped on? or are there pin holes too? I want to paint it black then re-install it.

Whats the easiest way to take this bad boy off?

-thanks!

1. SEARCH!
2. SEARCH!!
3. SEARCH!!!

These questions have been covered before. Removal is easy...heat emblem, use floss or fishing line in a 'sawing motion', just be careful of the alignment pins on the front and rear "Scion" emblems. You can use Goo-Gone to get the left-over adhesive off your car, but its not necessary. To put it back on, you can use heavy duty automotive double-sided adhesive or a silicone adhesive. To actually paint your emblems, you're going to have to SEARCH for that one!

Its pretty much the same process. Make sure you are aware there are two small tabs that fit into two holes in the body.

Does goo gone have any effects on our amazingly durable paint finish?

I've been contemplating doing this for a while now, I'm still undecided.

As mentioned in the link above............yup, you might get adverse effects on your amazingly durable paint. I wouldn't know, and in that same token.......wouldn't dare

ive removed badges from all sorts of cars

goo gone is harmless, as long as you use caution, and not a lot. Also, once you take off the emblem, wash the area with car soap and water, then put a coat of wax in that area to make sure it stays protected (just for safe measures)

ive never had any problems and I've done it a good 15 times.

Put the goo gone onto a towel first. Don't apply it directly to the surface, and therefore, you won't be able to miss any and leave it on your paint to ruin it.

goo gone is very abrasive and can take off clear coat. but if you're just taking off an emblem you won't use enough nor have it on the car long enough to have any negative effects
