I have a SW Tc, and have seen one before with all the headlight housing painted white, and made it look really nice, but I am kind of scared to do it, noticing i haven't seen many others tackle this task, will the hids or anything melt the paint, or will the heat inside make it fog up or anything awkward??

 

I dont see why not some high heat paint wont hold up to it and some high temp clear?

 

yeah thats what i was thinking, but sometimes i get an itch to do something a little over my head and learn the hard way so i kinda wanted to test the waters, i can paint really good but ive never baked the lenses off or resiliconed them, just making sure i dont do it then they fog up all the time or anything, do you just use standard clear silicone?

 

I did those myself with regular automotive paint that I got from a body shop and sprayed it myself.

 

how many coats, and how many coats of clear?

 

thats exactly what i would like to do, they look awesome, good job, i will probablly start this project soon =)

 

definatly use exterior auto paint sprayed on with a real gun,or airbrush at worst to geta good quality product when you are done.

 

I think I did 2-3 coats of paint then 2-3 coats of clear, I can't remember though it was a while ago.

 

i painted mines flat black. to mock the spec headlights...just used some regular paint from Home Depot. no clear. came out perfect. i was really impressed from my work. and your HID's wont melt it. they run cooler than regular bulbs. i have some 6000k and theyve been fine for over 6 months now...

 

If you are going to open them up to do that, might as well put "angel eyes" in

 

merc_tc has re-done his a few times. you just have to make sure you seal it really good when you are done to prevent condensation

 

I have re-done mine at least 4 times. I keep changing my mind. As a matter of fact I am going to be re-doing them again in the next few weeks. wait for pics as soon as I get them back from my guy who is doing them....

 

One of my personal fav mods on mine..... took it a setp further and painted the reflective parts also...... no heat problems on paint or condensation,,,, Just take your time or take it to a pro.

 

thats the only part that sucks....just making sure you sealed it right.....

 

yeah while ur in there might as well just do a retrofit lol it does look sick though

 

yea' that's why scared to do to mine. trying to find another set of oem 08 headlights to do to in case i suck at it lol

 

regular paint will do the trick. i went to a place that mixes automotive paint for you and they'll put it in a spray can.
